Fascism and national socialism arose in response to communism and its goal were separate from communism. Its true that fascism (and to a lesser extent, Nazism) have some similar aspects to modern leftist economic ideology but these economic policies are largely secondary to what fascists and Nazis wanted. The goal was a revival of European classicalism, traditionalism and escape from the degeneracy and culture-rot of communism that had taken hold in much of Europe (Weimar republic). Fascism had more of a goal of "Third Rome" but using nationalism of the various European peoples to structure society rather than the old Roman system.
