Part of what helps for me is asceticism. Cutting out things from your life that you don't need, that distract you, will help you to purify your mind and allows you to focus on what you know you need to do. That was Luther's conception of it, but I think you are misunderstanding it. He got rid of the Catholic idea of "salvation through faith and good works" because the "good works" part implies that human beings have some means of influencing the will of God. This stems from the limited, rational God of Aristotelianism. Luther was a Nominalist and believed God was truly unlimited, all-powerful, and all-knowing, thus utterly transcendent. This means that human beings could not possibly hope to make their own destiny and that the only means left of securing salvation is faith in the will of God. Of course God could decide to damn you one day or save you the next, and this fostered a severe sense of insecurity for Lutherans and the Puritans, and in many ways engendered the sense of all-encompassing skepticism which would lead to Cartesian naturalism and hence modern thought. If you would like to know more I would recommend "The Theological Origins of Modernity" by Michael Allen Gillespie:

Evolution is by definition non-random because it selects a very narrow set of traits to pass on to the next generation. Darwin's original ideas bare little resemblance to modern evolutionary biology, but the basic principles of 1. accumulation of random mutations 2. the selecting of these mutations resulting in adaptation over time and the resulting differentiation of lifeforms into separate species has held up.

Nah, if you google actual empirical studies, you will find that Lamarckian evolution isw the dominant force. Genes are nothing more than blueprints, and mostly irrelevant. With the abandonment of meaning and introspection, the average person has to indulge excessively in pleasures in order to stave off existential dread. It's a dead-end, the only thing left is a constant cycle of suffering and conflict. Go read left-wing discussions of climate change if you want a preview of how this will play out. They have absolutely no hope, they genuinely believe that humanity will be extinct within the century and there is no way to stop it. Yet they are almost giddy about the idea, almost like a sort of cosmic "fuck you" to everybody they've ever disagreed with. To them, the end of everything is a welcome sight, it's freedom from the pain of being.

As far back as Ancient Greece, people were looking to throw out the idea that man had always existed. Nearly 500 years before the birth of Jesus, the philosopher Anaximander proposed that man had “evolved” from an earlier creature—possibly a fish—which had in turn “evolved” from the natural elements. Aristotle later crapped all over this absurd idea, but it never vanished completely. Fast-forward to the Islamic Golden Age and we find ninth-century scholar al-Jahiz writing these words:

“Animals engage in a struggle for existence, and for resources, to avoid being eaten, and to breed . . . Environmental factors influence organisms to develop new characteristics to ensure survival, thus transforming them into new species. Animals that survive to breed can pass on their successful characteristics to their offspring.”

From a modern perspective, that’s about as close to describing evolution as you can get. A century later, Muhammad al-Nakhshabi would develop these ideas by claiming man “has sprung from sentient creatures.” But it wasn’t just the ancients who were working on evolution. Darwin’s own grandfather, Erasmus, once asked:

I learned in college how easy it is to get head trauma. Probably why COmmon COre and Jeff Charb promoted AP classes over actaull college, so they could hide such facts from the kiddos.

The most human, newest parts of your brain are on the outer perimeter and right up against your sharp skull. Football, snowboarding over skiing, promoting helmet less skateboarding and bicycling as cool, anti-psychotics/depressants, and extreme sports are all pushed on the plebs to scramble their brains.
