tl;dr should I fuck this guy over in my company for basically no reason?

I am a mid-level manager in a relatively large, family owned company (500 employees). A few months ago, I discovered that quite a few people in the company never change their Email password from the default. Because I'm nosy, I've been reading Emails in some key General Manager's accounts since then.

I learned that a General Manager at another branch was in negotiations for a job at our biggest competitor last month. (Funny enough, one of my best friends who has less experience than him beat him for the gig). This would anger our owner/CEO who is already short tempered (especially with his general managers) and has a high value on loyalty.

I thought a little bit about snitching, but the risk/reward didn't seem worth it.

Tonight, I see the CEO telling this GM that he heard rumors about him seeking a job at the competition. The lying little shit kiked his way out of it!!!

I am strongly considering anonymously snitching (with screenshots). My only reservation is I do not know how strong our IT Dept is and I worry this may create a rabbit hole they can use to find out I've been snooping.

Wat do?
