PNW is a low population area that has a lot of food growing regions, tons of fresh drinkable and unpolluted freshwater, LOTS of hydroelectric energy with potential for more, tons of fishing potential (salmon runs happen there) lots of hunting. There are only two problems, portland and seattle, both cities are relatively small and could be overwhelmed with conservative immigration. Top it off with being incredibly far from another major city area (california being the closest) having very based states surrounding it, including alberta canada, alaska, all the western mountain states...

Its a really good place to concentrate. Problem is the major tech companies in seattle, portland, and vancouver BC are importing hordes of indians and chinese...TONS...there are a few farm regions in eastern washington that are mostly immigrant mexican field workers as well.

take it from me this is a VERY easy place to survive off the grid. West of the cascades where its more of an arid steppe/desert but has a lot of rivers running through it, making irrigation possible, its wine country, where fruit is grown, wheat and lentils ect. Not like the poisoned midwest farmland destroyed by genetic alteration and soaking the earth in chemicals where corn is grown to feed meat stocks.
