Why are millennials so quick to accept socialism?
Is it due to the failing job market or are they just lazy and want gibs.
>>

I would like to think that being lazy and wanting gibs are not a motivation, but I learned a thing or to caucusing for Bernie Sanders. I had a cautiously optimistic approach to the ideology while other attendees spoke of "free" healthcare, education, etc. As if nobody is actually paying for it one way or another. It was pretty fucking stupid and I'm leaning libertarian these days.

More gibs, pretty much. They see the fruits of other people's hard labour and want them, but are unwilling to do the damn work and/or expect the results of a 20-year career to be handed to them in their first job, which of course, should just be an easy ride with no real work involved.

There's a cardinal rule which helps explain this phenomenon. People do not hate the rich. They simply hate people richer than them.

It's no coincidence that the ones who despise these kind of people the most are those born into the working class (as opposed to the children of doctors and architects who pretend they're poor because daddy doesn't buy them a new iPhone every other week) who made their wealth through their own hard work.

t. surrounded by middle-class 20-somethings who live off the taxpayer and daddy's money and pretend to be poor and demand that working people pay for their lifestyle choices

I went to university, I talked to these kids, they think it's completely reasonable to expect making $55,000 a year as a manager in a starting position. They don't understand that they're one of a hundred million with a bachelor's degree and they have to start at the bottom and work hard like everybody else, because their whole lives were spent in a school system that placed them at the top for being able to spit out the propaganda in the right order. Now they can spit out propaganda just fine, oh they just love to, but they have to real skills, no work ethic, and no motivation. It's almost sad because a lot of liberals were bright kids that got caught up in their own arrogance.

I can agree with that, not that their views of socialism are necessarily wrong though. The US, through its awful public education, stagnation of wages, and bewildering costs of higher education, have essentially barred the lower laboring class from actually learning about their condition, or what causes it. The media has fed them the lie that the system itself is fine, perfect even, but it's these small and basically irrelevant groups that are fucking it all up. That plus the McCarthyist rhetoric that dominates US views on anything even half-leftist, have cucked the majority of the working class who would best benefit from socialism. So now the only people who actually know or care about socialism tend to be middle-class kids. It sucks.

This wasn't the case in the '10s-'40s, where the US actually had a strong Socialist party, strong labor unions, and still tons of communes around the country; this basically all fell apart after Debs got shot and the red scares started kicking in after the USSR dropped the ball.

In the most boiled down way possible, sure. But there isn't anything even wrong about those. "Yeah, colonization worked out great for the colonizers, but what about the colonized?" Is a question well worth asking. It just makes sense.

Schools get it wrong because they assume that the imperialists knew what they were doing was wrong. Critical Theory is all about exposing contradictions and short-comings in ideology when compared to material conditions; schools don't really do that.

>>135430358

I think it's more because of growing economic disparity and a decline in infrastructure. I also don't endorse illegal immigration (i.e. businesses tacitly encouraging swathes of exploitable labor to come over) and black people aren't immigrants, they've been here in large numbers since the Colonial era.

>i dont even support nationalism or borders, but you dont need to be a right winger to notice how foreigner immigration is going to destroy your society
I really think it's an overstated issue, at least relative to other problems here in the U.S.

Lab tech. Don't worry, I got called up for warehouse work, that paid more and gave more hours, 1 week after applying and didn't hear back from the lab tech job until 4 months after having sent in my application. Unless you're in Louisiana or any place that has a big chemical industry, you wasted your time. I'm going into accounting and getting my CPA, chemistry is as much of a meme degree as marine biology when it comes to good work and pay, PhD's included

Even the older generation thought it was cute that he was running but couldn't take him serious. Sanders was a run of the mill, too good to be true sales pitch full of promises made without consequence; Something children love to hear but don't realize the money still has to come from somewhere

>Find me some entry level jobs for chemists. It's not like I want to be a leech forever.

That's a perfect example of the millennial mindset. Get a job, ANY job, not just an "entry level chemist". So what if that's what you studied. It doesn't mean that has to be the only job you can take. I'm in IT. But in my early 20s, I was a meat cutter because it was the best job I could find at the time.

You're young. Get a job as a roughneck, or in construction. It will do you a world of good.

I'm a millennial and I hate socialism. Rich people push for it and normies push for it. It's obviously pure evil.

when you're young you don't understand that government kind of sucks at getting anything done and giving all the power to the state is pointless and ineffective

I'm coming around to my senses and am slowly realizing that this is the case. I just can't force myself to start over after all the time I put in. At this point, I just want to get away from it all for a while. I'm looking into the Peace Corps now. It's volunteer, but hopefully I come back with some new perspectives. As much as I want to wagecuck for a decade like >>135433148 advises, I'm way too disillusioned to stick with anything at this point in time.

It's because they lack the capacity to function within a capitalist society due in part to both extraordinarily poor government education systems and psychological abuse/neglect from their shitty parents. Work ethic is not an innate skill, it's one that has to be taught and the parents of most Millenials failed miserably to do so, the same failures of parents also failed to instill any capacity for individual thought or critical thought into their children and schools deliberately do not do so. Millenial Socialists are the result of multiple compounding failures by previous generations to instill any positive traits in their children.

Free college in a leftist owned institution means they will indoctrinate you into communism for no charge. Bernies goal is to turn america purple. This red headed bastard embarrassed himself on national television debating our healthcare getting completely blown out by Cruz.

It's all "wagecuckism". Even your chemist job. Did you realize you'd probably make more money in a roughneck job than as an entry level chemist?

The government really did a number on your generation. Can't get what you think you're owed, so you want to run away.

You can't expect us to be all smiles and optimism after all we worked for crumbles away. I put years into my study of chemistry, long hours of effort. Heck, I even got my research published. So then, at the end I expected a job that would repay that effort. When I found myself unemployed, you can bet your ass I was disillusioned. At least I can relate to the older guys who lose their house, accounts, kids, and job in a divorce. It takes someone who's had their hard work go to shit to understand someone similar.

So, I'm running away to a vantage point. The fact is, the only times I've truly been happy were when I was published and a handful of memories with a Korean girl and another handful with a Japanese girl. I someday want to feel that happiness again, and I believe that I'll have to leave my fellow whites and the USA to achieve this. I'd sooner get my bearings in the PC or teaching (low caste) in Asia than start all over in America. I will not settle.

Most of them was brought up believing that they could be whatever they want. They had no worries, but then suddenly reality hits them. They studied a bullshit subject and now they can't get a job. They don't know anything about cars and very little about construction. So many of them failed life. And they are still not grown up enough. So when a old ragged socialist promise them to stir up the pot. They all get very excited

Uni does a poor job with career advise and direction these days. Work till you're sick of it, that's what made me want to go back. Accountants make all with the bachelors alone, get MBA, meme it more, get CPA and start my own firm. You need ambition before you ever go back. My advise, work yourself sick, realize that you have the capacity to do more than shit work for nothing, and then pursue it
>>135434803
>spent years being published chemist with thousands towards the education to get a career in chemistry
>becomes a roughneck instead
You know how retarded and absolutely demotivating it is, it's a pretty sad comparison considering how difficult the curriculum is to essentially surmount to nothing. We aren't expecting a golden carriage, just a start in a career that wasn't otherwise considered a meme

>I'm a socialist because the system is corrupt
The brainwashing is complete, thanks Marxists.

Dude the system is not corr8pt, every system has pretty much the same problems on different scales. If you are goimg to say it's bad because it incentives bad peopme from governing, I don't see a difference in socialism, even anarchism socialism. Because at the end of the day people give power to other people, this is inevitable. If you want to end "corruption" you make people more accountable and stop playing in teams and think more like a good person. No system is good or bad its always the people whoe are responsibble, the fucking shstem doesnt mattere

white kids living in gated communities are used to getting everything they want; their view of the world is based off disney movies and mindless platitudes. Hence, their political views are easily manipulated by insincere idealogues who blame others for their problems, because they are raised to avoid all responsibility.

This entire country has lost all standards. In fact, almost all tests scores in this country are going down, while there are millenials complaining about how algebra is too hard and should be taken out of high school. Meanwhile, countries like Japan, SK and China are pumping out adults with excellent academic records, complete self-responsibility and emotional maturity that western countries are incapable of matching.

Did you ever once ask yourself if there would be enough chemistry (or whatever field) jobs available to warrant going into that field? Just because people may have told you that "you can be whatever you want to be", doesn't mean it would be profitable. You aren't owed a job just because you go into a particular field. How could you not know that?

As for being demotivational, life as an adult doesn't always go your way. You have to adjust to things that happen. If you can't get a job in your field, what are the options? You either get a job in a different field or you be broke until a job in your field comes along. That's all it really is, a temporary job until one you want comes along. You're acting like you are all down because you might have to do something that doesn't pertain to what you studied. So what? It has happened for as long as people have been around. You're lucky though, you get a chance to do what you want. People in history lived entire lives working in areas they didn't like because it was the only thing available.

>>135425476
>Is it due to the failing job market or are they just lazy and want gibs.
I wouldn't say it's either of those. Jobs are there if you want one, and actual unemployment is declining. The problem is that millennials don't see a path to financial success regardless of whether they have jobs.

People oppose socialism when they can imagine themselves as the rich guy getting taxed to pay for welfare programs. For millennials, meaningful career advancement isn't available without graduate-level degrees, but to get a graduate degree, they have to incur so much student debt that most of their salary increase will go to paying interest on the loans. So even if you decide to work hard to better yourself and pursue a career, you're still just going to be making do, not getting rich.

Plus, as we get further from the Cold War, socialists no longer inspire the same fear of an enemy nation trying to subvert our government the way they used to. People can look at socialism from a more unbiased perspective and see the good things it can offer, not just its downsides.

>For millennials, meaningful career advancement isn't available without graduate-level degrees
Dude what? Jump around a few different startups for 5 years or so, and then go into a cushy senior-level position at a Megacorp making 6-figures. This is pretty much what myself, 90% of my co-workers, professional contacts, and friends have all done (all mid-late 20s and a few earlier 30s).
We're in tech though, so I guess if you went into some silly non-technical career path it may be a different story. If you're young, I can't think of any reasons why you wouldn't go into a tech career,
