When people talk about the existence of IQ differences, they're not saying that a bigger number means better (unless they're dickwaving teenagers, but there are few of those on a classy board like /pol/). They're saying that it constitutes proof that the races have different brains, which undermines the typical assumption that all the differences in behavior is due to culture.

Do you understand how IQ works? An inch directly maps to a certain number of planck lengths. A second directly maps to a certain number of cesium transitions. An inch is always an inch and a second is always a second. Rulers and clocks are linear, objective scales.

IQ is a relative score based on norms. The people who created the tests defined it such that the average is always 100 and the standard deviation always 15. But wait, sometimes the standard deviation is defined as 16, or sometimes as 24. And different tests have different norms, based upon different test samples, and use a different set of questions, meaning that the same person could get a different score on a different test. Do you see the problem here? An inch has a very specific, objective definition. An IQ point only has meaning RELATIVE to other IQ points on the same test, compared to the same norms.

I'm not saying that IQ tests are useless, but comparing IQ points to inches or seconds shows an incomplete understanding of how IQ is calculated.
