Why can't Millennials make money?

I don't want to disrespect an entire generation. but iin 2017 the percentage of people age 19 to 31 years of old have had the lowest employment participation rate ever recorded.

Why can't Millennials make money?
>>
You forgot the Steve-O picture
>>
because they choose low paying jobs and then demand $15 minimum wage instead of getting a good degree like STEM fields and getting a well paying job
>>
>>135381273
They spend. They spend money they don't have. If you work you make money. If you spend it all that's your issue. If you don't make enough save while living alone, that's your choice. If you spend it all and you are living at home, that's your choice.
But it's all your choice. Save, live frugally at home, try to get a real job.
Best advice, get your act together, clean and groom, practice interview and go to a staffing agency.
My fiance and I did that right out of college and we both make about 40k before taxes (thirty thousand each after taxes). We work hard and don't spend. We show up and do our best.
It's not rocket surgery but I do hold onto the hope that we will continue to rise in our jobs over time.
FYI we work in insurance. I work title insurance and she works health insurance.
It isn't glorious but we have our lives and dignity by our own hand.

Why are you using labor participation rate as the basis of your argument that they're poor?

See, we both work for fortune 500 companies that provide us with health insurance and gives us money in exchange for worm. Our skills improve as time goes on. Our resumes improve.
Hmm, I think it's actually not a bad set up. I like having money and improved standard of living. Just me, but the more NEETs the better. It's like you guys have convinced yourselves to not be my competition.
And I never am disappointed with the response of the excuse.

The Home Depot founder claims if he were starting out today, Home Depot would not have succeeded primarily because of “stifling” regulations that are an impediment to small businesses.
>>
>>135381608
This is false. All the data shows millennials don't spend and the economists are panicking because it means millennials aren't acquiring debt and buying useless shit like the boomer did. With the drop in millennial spending we are seeing a crash in the retail market.
>>
Because everyone wants to work in America. Millions and millions of shitskin immigrants, whores funding their whore lifestyles, etc all undercuts wages and lowers them.

You'd be making around double what you do right now if women and immigrants couldn't work.

They don't like to actually WORK. I worked at a medium-sized aerospace company and all the production line work was full of legal immigrants from all over the world.

These jobs were decent paying yet none of my cohorts were to be found.. Lazy soft-handed little babies.
>>
>>135382336
shh don't scare the corporate bootlicker
there's no real reason for Millennials to save since we all know we're fucked
>>
>>135382286
Well he's right. Big companies love big regulations because they provide a huge barrier of competition. True free markets are somewhat of a topsy-turvy affair yet in most industries there is only a Big 2 or 3 that dominate a sector and remain on top no matter what.
>>
>>135382618
They hire immigrant because it makes them look good and because they work for less, you retard.
Plenty of whites want better jobs, they're just aren't enough decent ones left.
>>
>>135382623
Well millennials aren't saving much either. Because there are no jobs for them. During the economic anomaly of the boomer generation it was easy to acquire a high paying job with no experience, get on the job training and a pension. None of that exists anymore. Now you need 15 years experience for an entry level job, with experience in every coding language, two degrees, a recommendation letter from the President and a signed petition from Congress just to get an interview. Then you lose the job because you won't work for minimum wage with no benefits as a temp contractor so they can dump your ass easily with no legal consequence. The job market is pretty fucked compared to how it was back in the day.

These people can barely speak English. They would hire native-born Americans if they could. You have a point on accepting less-pay though.

Weak fags letting themselves get low-balled ruin it for everyone.

Certain industries get write-off and have the government partially subsidize the wage for hiring "disadvantaged" people. Have no idea if that's the case in your situation but chances are it isn't as cut and dry as you think.

They spend what they have. They spend what they have (look at the avocado toast) because there is an anxiety after witnessing the Great Recession, that to save is insecure, because it can be lost at the misbehavior of others.
Our generation is massively conditioned for immediate gratification. There are a hundred reasons why. Porn generation, high speed Internet, atms, just off the top of my head. But they don't work like previous generations. They have a preference for more flexible hours, they are totally irresponsible, I've heard a thousand embarrassing stories about millennials not showing up to work, calling in faking illness, millennial mangers at small businesses shutting down early because people wanted to go home and causing monthly revenue to tank, coming in hung over regularly, coming to work on drugs, having sex in the work place.
God, when I worked at retail and fast food it's like we all made each other work worse.

There are advertisements for seminars on 'how to keep your millennial' that middle management receives every month.
And then a significant fraction of them don't even work, stay home and vidya, plenty if single mom's, ive have three millennial friends on social security who brag about it.
It's pathetic and distancing myself and working has been the most important decision in my own life.
If you keep up the Yolo die young neetness then you'll wish you started making mature decisions earlier in a few years.

Because too many of them are entitled cunts who have no perspective and expect a 6-figure career to fall in their lap. If it's any less than 100k starting with no degree, experience, or sacrifice, they think it's bullshit and sit at mommy's house playing video games, staying on their healthcare plan until they're 26, and do fuck all instead. Oh, and blaming the 'boomers' for their failure at life. That's like a full-time thing i guess.

There is no solution. We're about to get hit by a massive wave of automation that is going to gut all of the high payings jobs on Wall Street, Silicon Valley and across America. The low paying jobs will follow. CEOs in Silicon Valley are actually building doomsday bunkers to survive the coming riots. When automation hits over the next 10-20 years, unemployment is going to hit 80 to 90% if we're lucky. Closer to 100% if we're not.

Yeah, and we see them on the streets shaking and talking to themselves, or wearing applrwatches sipping Starbucks. Just the opportunity to work and have a chance at climbing the ladder. If you settle, well, you settled. As the Financial Times notes, in 2000 there were over 5,500 floor traders on the New York Stock Exchange; now there are fewer than 400. Many of the remaining traders work only part-time. Most trading jobs have been taken over by servers running trading algorithms.

>Wall Street staffing reductions thus far have come largely from traditional automation technologies, but new cognitive technologies are likely to accelerate them. Much of Wall Street’s back office operations involve the performance of relatively structured tasks. Many of these could probably be taken over by tools like robotic process automation, which can reach into multiple systems for needed data and apply rule-based decision logic.

Just because the floor traders are a thing of the past doesn't mean Wall Street jobs are tanking, hot shot. It just means more people are working from home doing the same shit and the ease of access actually makes trading that much easier to access by the common person [again, scottrade, e-trade, etc]. It's like you're too stupid to realize no one wants to call a floor person to make trades when it's just as easy to click and find your own trades. 20 years ago people didn't have half the access to the stock market and day trading, by humans, has never been more popular.

Nobody knows what's going to happen to the economy. If the change happens too rapidly and people can't get money from traditional jobs, maybe society collapses. We just know that it's going to be radically different and possibly even violent.

Who cares... education isn't the game... the game is hustling.

I don't care how educated you are... I can educate a mexican to do your job for much less.

College was a scam. I didn't learn to rebuild gasoline engines in college, i didn't learn how to build a house in college, I didn't learn how to cook gourmet meals in college, I didn't learn how to program computers or sew, fish, shoot a bow, clean a firearm, repair cell phones, do residential electrical work, use power tools, repair a roof, gardening or landscaping in college.

Guess what? 90% of college is useless and the people who got high paying jobs were part of a networking nepotism scam, often people who lied about their credentials and create a fake portfolio backed by foul individuals who did the same.

Literally what. You can keep chugging along like every apologist itt and every thread like it.
And exception to the norm seems to have worked but I'd like to think that what Ive seen makes perfect sense for why these threads seem so common with so many bitching in them. It echoes what is probably said on social media and at parties with 27 year old kids. But you sort of have to step away from all the noise to see it. If you think these most productive years of your life are productive, right on. If not, carry out the plan that will make it so. This conditioned excuse making, anticipation, entitlement and absence of work ethic make perfect sense to me. Stop doing it. Otherwise you'll just be doing this for years and regret not getting it together sooner when you finally do.

Again you're not addressing the very real fact that stock trading has never been easier and if you've got half a brain you can do it. Automation has increased the numbers of people making a living off wall street, not decreased it. For every floor trader out of a job, 60 more people are figuring out how to make their own trades in minutes. It's like your staring at a refrigerator and too stupid to realize it takes more than the door hinges to make the shit run. They called us the mY-pod generation, MySpace-iPod-Y generation. And it's basically you went from adolescents to young adulthood already starting in the 00s. working=something wrong
playing,having fun=something good

that is how we shaped the young peoples minds, and it is fault of people who forbid adults to make children work and show their children it;s something completly normal and gets you money. instead they got idea that you get money anyway when you sit in front of computer and play

The last generation are basically still coasting off of the easy days. They have the majority vote too, and most politicians are baby boomers who will push policies that protect all their investments. Basically the end game of capitalism/consumerism is that later generations will get less and less.

We have to wait for them to die before we can enact real change.

OP is asking a macro-ecomic question and all I read are some superficial micro-economic replies.

To round up from a micro perspective (that means what can I do in the big world): They make poor choices.

On the macro perspective Anons should first of all understand: money is a mechanism of discrimination. If everyone had more money, there would still be the same number of goods and prices would just increase and people could still just afford the same amount of goods (also called a utility bundle).

The economy got BTFO when the median Millennial population was graduating highschool

Outside of a few select cities, the economy was truly fucked. This led to a lot of people not acquiring work experience, training, education until things started to recover.

Spoiler:
The economy is still fucked up, we just entered a new bubble.

Evidence of the new bubble:
Housing prices shot way back up
FANG/Tech/Startup stocks shot way up

this trolling is just not funny anymore. you need new material

people who are aged 19 right now, are quite literally Generation Z (if you are born 1995-2009), the oldest Gen Z member is 22, you are also leaving out almost half of REAL Millenials from your little study.
as per wiki:

>Randstad Canada describes Generation Z as those born between 1995–2014.
>Australia's McCrindle Research Centre defines Generation Z as those born between 1995–2009
>A 2014 report from Sparks and Honey describes Generation Z as those born in 1995 or later
>Author Jean Twenge describes the iGen as those born after 1995.

these all give start date of 1995/96

now, explain to me how Millenials then, start at 1982 or 84? that means millenials generation is 11-13 years long, unlike literally every other gen is 15 years. fucking trolls i swear 2 gawd.

now, irrelevant marketing companies use continuously later years to classify the gens, because it allows them larger windows to market and sell shit

>The Futures Company,[16][17] marketing agency Frank N. Magid Associates,[12] Ernst and Young,[30] Turner Broadcasting,[31] and The Shand Group[32] use 1997 as the first year of birth for this cohort, with Frank N. Magid considering the cohort to extend to at least 2014.[12] A 2016 report from multinational banking firm Goldman Sachs describes Generation Z as those born since 1998.[3

but factual historic and scientific and Accounting firms ALL use 1995 as start date for Gen Z. and 1980 for Millenials

I know how a fucking credit score works. I'm saying, we don't even have credit cards to blow money with, because no millenial has enough for a bank to issue a fucking credit card to them
>>
>>135386433
well, that's actually kind of an interesting way of classifying it, by creating both gen Y and Millenial categories......that's actually pretty accurate imo. except that means that you have completely erased Gen Alpha, which is supposed to be birth years (2010-present), because each generation is equally 15 years long. like i said in my other post, real serious research companies all use older dates, whereas marketing companies who included specific Generational branding and product placement use a sliding scale, so they can continue to market to a certain peak age consumer demographic of 16-31 etc. so they will continue to keep sliding the Name of the Generation forward in time to make it seem like this age range doesn't age, thus retaining their purchasing power as a demographic.
>>
>>135383343
>But they don't work like previous generations
>I've heard a thousand embarrassing stories about millennials not showing up to work, calling in faking illness, millennial mangers at small businesses shutting down early because people wanted to go home and causing monthly revenue to tank, coming in hung over regularly, coming to work on drugs
You're talking as if all of this is one-sided. The EMPLOYEES are shit nowadays. You think corporations haven't changed? People used to work for the same corporation for their whole lives, I know such people.

In today's market, you're basically crippling yourself financially if you stay for more than 2 years in a company. Career advancement in the same company means more hours, more pressure, but next no raises, and things like "job security" isn't even a thing anymore. And to add insult to injury, you don't need a recession to justify layoffs anymore, all you need is a way to make "more money" (which at the end, it won't) for the shareholders by outsourcing your work to some Polack.

Add this to stagnating wages, skyrocketing living/education costs and educational requirements for menial tasks, and you can see why Millennials aren't all that into working.

You guys do not understand how credit score works. At fucking all. Credit score is all about how much the bank trusts that you're gonna pay them back their money. So tell me, how the fuck can a bank give you a credit score to begin with, if you can't even get a bank loan. You only get credit score once you have the ability to be in debt. You can't really "Be in debt" without a credit card to rack up debt with, and you can't get a credit card unless you make bookoo cash. And you can't make bookoo cash if you're a millenial. ERGO. MILLENIALS DONT HAVE FUCKING CREDIT SCORREEEEEEEEE

You are correct that it's about how much money you can make the bank. Banks are a business so when you boil it down then yes of course that's their endgame. However, millenials are not part of this system is my general point. Because banks want nothing to do with people who have no money

The main reason is that the economy is so hyper-competitive and full of tricky expensive rules and regulations. In times past you could come up with a brilliant idea, and just do it, or "put yourself out there" and find opportunities to 'do X receive money." No more. I am sure I could be very successful with a small loan of $100 million, but having nothing to start with, there is hardly any opportunity to make money. I've been NEET for 3 years for various reasons, and applied to over 100 wagecuck jobs this year. Got 3 interviews, zero offers.

In reality they will give you a big loan but you have to show over many years that you have consistency with your business ventures or income.

Even if you spent 10 years of your life running a business that breaks even every year and your profits are very little, the bank sees that as you have the potential to grow through your consistency and reliability.

They might just offer you that 200k loan to expand your business.

To be fair depending on the type of job and the situation, it can go both ways... seniority or working hard can get you high positions, usually seniority goes hand in hand with hard work due to the fact that person with seniority has shown their value and hard work.

Boomers do play a rather cancerous role, if you've worked with boomers you know what i mean. They often work harder at being lazy and taking short cuts rather than simply doing the job correctly.

In the past employers were willing to train people. Now they want the employees to train themselves. So I did that by going back to college and completing a number of business credentials. So I at least have something even though I have no experience.

Another method is to find a business you are interested in and just keep applying. Every month send in a resume. HR might come to hate your name, but at least they will remember it. They might even schedule an interview to get you to stop.

For fuck's sake. I HAVE worked with boomers, they're by far more tolerable than people my own age because at least they know how to shut the fuck up and do work when it's called for. Most people my age that I've worked with are doing menial work, taking up space, not really adding any extra value to whatever company they work for but still expect crazy ass raises and promotions, all the while every woman and faggot is just looking for any excuse to file a sexual harassment or discrimination case so they can get some kind of payout for bullshit. That's the American workforce right now, like it or not.

Let me tell you a story. I was working for a Baby Boomer guy at my first job, and I made a point to work as hard as I could. At first, he seemed okay, but he always felt the need to tell me how he was in the Marines and I needed to do shit better EVEN when I went out of my way to do shit that really didn't need to be done.

Whenever they asked me to do shit, I always did it. I was told I was the best worker in that position they ever had. This guy always acted like a jerk to other people, and not only me. Most people would fall in line. Okay, that's fine.

Well, one day I suggested putting a trash can in the men's bathroom because people were throwing shit on the ground. He didn't say a word, but just glared at me like I was retarded for even trying to help. At the same time, he would smoke cigarettes inside of a public building (illegal)

The only time he would say anything is if he was trying to put on a show to the female co-workers and would say weird shit like "My dick is small". I shit you not.

I quit. There's just no response from the Baby Boomers I've met when I go outside. They're self-absorbed weirdos. They're even worse than Millennials. I mean... Millennials lived through 9/11. We know shit's fucked, but Baby Boomers act like Millennials are too stupid before they've even tried. And honestly, I don't think Baby Boomers really care because they see Millennials as replaceable garbage and just want to get it over with and retire.

This is my one and only experience working for a Baby Boomer, but even so, I don't want another one.

I HATE BABY BOOMERS. DIE ALREADY

When I was in high school I helped this boomer move into his home. He was moving from Arkansas back to California. He had a small company that he bragged about throughout the entire day. His company was making led lights for aquariums. Except he didn't make them, or design them, he just ordered these shitty lights from China that would break all the time. It was just him and his wife in a 4 bedroom house. Full of shit they didn't need. So much shit he couldn't find any of the electric drills he owned. His solution was to just go buy another one $100+ because most likely they were all in the storage place where they had even more shit they don't need. Offered me a job fixing those lights since he knew about my experience with electronics especially with LEDS. What did this business tycoon "hard working" boomer want to pay me for fixing shit he had no clue about? $10 and hour. I thought about it because it's better than doing any of the other jobs someone in high school would do. Asked him where the company was located at, in his garage. Never called him back and I'm glad to know he's out of business.

As 10 year olds. Did Boomers just blink out of existence during that time period? It doesn't make you special. Boomers lived through multiple wars, what's your point?

You basically proved my point whining about your boss smoking cigarettes in a building or something. Who gives a fuck? That's your whole schtick right?
