No, religious-brain hyper-empathetic cucks who've moved on from Christ to Marx will defend this. The problem, as the OP's article cleary states, is the people. What they believe in comes in and out of vogue, the stupidity and magical thinking remain constant.

Though I agree it's a big problem that "science" which should stand for a way of thinking anithetical to how the religious think, is not becoming championed by and infested with the religious-minded.

I will concede that Marxism is a much more socially dangerous religion that Christianity, but I believe the true way forward is to simple... physically remove... the religious-minded, rather than replace on kooky doctrine with another.

while this is particularly black pilled it is several steps away from the truth.
the truth is that you are god, you are the universe experiencing itself, I know I hear people all the time go "lol you're stardust but so is that piece of trash, don't flatter yourself lol" but they're cynical morons, that piece of trash can't feel, see, touch, learn, dance, create, or interact with the universe as a whole, we can, in our minds, with the very tools the universe itself gave you, and after you are done collecting information and experiences for the universe the power life force your body was borrowing to power itself returns with all of that relevant information, and the nutrients in your body get reabsorbed. things in the next 20 years or so are going to get weird as fuck though as more people start realizing this, realizing that the universe simply can't just be inert physical matter floating around for no reason.

Yes this is true, but this applies to the vast majority of normies. Whether they are highly traditional or "progressive", they perceive the world in a very dumb manner, and are not capable of looking at it objectively to a large enough extent. Human beings are simply not as rational as we would think. Most are barely a step above animals.

>believing that the universe doesn't love us is just the first step in accepting kikes having any sort of power over you.

I fail to see how one leads to the other. If you actually think the universe "loves you", then you are the definition of a braindead normie.

>a true analytical mind would realise existence is useless because it's all chemicals and information flows anyway so why not kill yourself

Of course existence is cosmically meaningless, meaning itself is an entirely human concept. Why does life being meaningless make you want to kill yourself? I believe life has no inherent meaning, but I am not remotely suicidal and never will be. What is the point of killing yourself? You will die eventually anyways. Might as well experience existence while you have it.

>I personally think God just refers to the God we will create through technology in the next 100 years who WILL love us

You cannot create god through technology, god is by definition something that can only exist outside of our universe, as its creator. You can't create god anymore than you can be god yourself and create a new universe. Also what is you obsession with love or god loving us? Why are you such a fag who needs a big space daddy to love him?

God has given you over to your sinful ways, your heart is hardened. The Bible is a perfect record of creation, nature, mankind, even DNA and genetics.
Once you view ancient world history and current science from the perspective that the Bible is literal and accurate then everything makes sense. universe, time, human behavior, everything fits and this broader understanding just seems to fall over you.
Most of you know how the Jews have steered society for their benefit. If you think they haven't been doing the same thing with your relationship with God you're crazy, I guarantee you they have.
Personally, I take the Biblical view that there's a good group of jews and a bad group of jews and the bad group that pretty much run the world believe. We know for a fact they're into weird occult rituals. They're just on the wrong side.

Beats believing life was developed from nothing.

Atheists believe that the universe was created out of nothing. I mean what kinda shit is that? How come nothing become something? It defies everything you learned in School. 0 cannot equal to 1.

The universe is made out of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed.

Believing in a more advanced life form isn't that stupid when you think about it. For all you know, we are in some Scientist's test tube.

You can get that religious feeling of awe and inspiring beauty without believing in a god. In fact, the more I find out about the nature of reality, the more beautiful I find it to be. As an atheist, I know I will only get one life- the one I currently have. So I use to to enjoy as much and as many experiences as I can within that short 80 year span. To me, there is more beauty in the world now than ever when I was a theist and as my knowledge grows, so too does my appreciation for the current state of our cosmos and the search for our precise origins.

>>135341797
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change shapes and states. Our biological self is nothing more than an extremely, extremely complex computer made of organic tissue and energy. At one time, the systems were much simpler, but organisms made of such simple systems do not have the machinery necessary to have speech, thought, etc. As the machinery was molded by the environment again, and again, complexity was added until we get to today; supercomplex biomachines capable of semi-rational thought. It's not a nihilist point of view; it's one of great pride and honor to be the result of such an amazing series of events.
>>
People who believe mock the religious, but have literally no doubts about gravity.
>>
>>135342388
If you get that sense of awe and wonder, it means you are just as religious as the people you mock. That feeling is the feeling of mystery, It's a positive relationship with the unknown. When you feel that way, you are accepting the fa t that you don't have any real answers and are okay with that. Unscientific. Science is a shit religion because heresy is literally unavoidable.

>If you get that sense of awe and wonder, it means you are just as religious as the people you mock
Except for the part where I don't subscribe to any religion, maybe? That's my point. You don't need a religion to feel that way. Yes, it's about the positive relationship with the unknown; it's about seeking the unknown and making it known. I am only okay with real answers, answers like "because god said so" were not sufficient for me, so I kept looking. I eventually found pier-reviewed articles, papers and a whole scientific community filled with truthful insights with repeatable experiments to back their claims up.

Science is not a religion, it is a tool for testing the world around us- a method for testing and being sure of our results rather than just claiming something to be true because it's written in a dusty book.

I like how you faggots don't understand that a study's result is not fact. There's much, much more to solving a problem than one single study can solve. I can wake up tomorrow and I can hear a study on how drinking alcohol will cure cancer and then two days later another article will be circulating how alcohol is the cause of cancer. This is especially true when numbers are involved.

Remember, there's lies, there's damn lies, and then there's statistics.

>>
>>135342388
While true, someone or something created the universe, to begin with, and that's my argument here.

Believing in a God is as stupid as believing Science because, in the end, we'll never know how the Universe came to be.

I'll tell you this though, a Christian may have wasted one hour of every Sunday of his life if he's wrong but if an atheist is wrong, he wasted eternity. So whos really the dumb one here? Out of both odds, which is the most logical?

Who the fuck do you think invented science? (Hint: it was the catholics.) Unless you are literally doing all of these experiments yourself, you are forming your beliefs on the writing of other people. You say you don't have a religion, and yet you have all the markings: dogma, priestly caste, tithing, ritual, mystery, jargon, evangelism, sacred ground. Saying It's not a religion doesn't make it so. If you feel no compulsion to question gravity, then you are, in fact, religious. Gravity has never been empirically evidenced. Newton's laws did not come from the lab. Gravity is only known by its indirect effects which may just as well be described without changing any of our math. You experience the numinous on a near daily basis. You are religious.

Yes. Awe and wonder are non rational responses to physical stimuli. They are an appreciation for the unknown and unknowable. Wonder in particular is a formless fantasy. It is very strictly a sense of pleasure at contemplating unknown potential. The numinous is strictly religious, because it is an ascribing of reason, meaning, purpose, or agency to what may or may not lie beyond the void of ignorance and shadow. You are literally seeing spirits and calling them mathematical formulas. You are engaging in Gnosticism.

We don't know something or someone created the universe, it's possible that the universe created itself due to circumstances outside the perceivable 'edge' of the universe.
I prefer the theory of cyclical universes, it's not as well backed as 'big bang' but it has a lot of potential and answers a lot of questions that people have been headscratching on for a long time.

And yes, pascal's wager does favor the Christian. I however, fail to see any kind of proof for heaven or hell and so I can't in any right mind believe in it. Most of Christianity is obviously, provably false so I take everything from the bible with a grain of salt.

>You say you don't have a religion, and yet you have all the markings: dogma, priestly caste, tithing, ritual, mystery, jargon, evangelism, sacred ground.
Well first off- you should definitely do any experiments, or watch those experiments being conducted, if you doubt their findings. That's the great thing about science- you CAN check.

Secondly:
>dogma
No such thing in science, the whole point is nothing is sacred. Even the big bang theory is being tweaked, edited and reworked as new information comes in. At this rate, it might even be disprove and replaced by cyclical universe theory or something else entirely.
>priestly caste
Who? I guess you could say the most qualified scientists, but then in order for their findings to mean anything a bunch of other qualified scientists from across the world have to verify their claims too.
>tithing
?
>ritual
The ritual is testing and retesting something to ensure that your first guess / results were accurate. Seems like a good ritual to me.
>mystery
The whole purpose of science is to investigate mystery and find answers, yes.
>>
>>135344771
I think it is you who is seeing mathematical formula and calling them spirits. What is a spirit exactly? Can you define it? Test it? Retest it with the same results?

>Awe and wonder are non rational responses
I mean, maybe we're splitting hairs about what awe and wonder mean, but when I look out into the stars at night with my telescope at the vastness of space- I am inspired and humbled. To me this is awe. If I'm using the wrong word, I apologize.
>>
>>135344959
Technically the guy you're responding to isn't wrong, assuming science begins with the scientific revolution. Prior to that you mostly have mathematics and what can be called natural philosophy, only vaguely representing what we know as science today.
>>
>>135344959
Pythagoras was a philosopher. There could be no science until the actual practice and implementation of a scientific process was invented. Furthermore, math, which is a branch of logic, is not a science. Simply coming up with a way to mathematically describe something does not have any bearing on the physical laws. Einstein's relativity may allow us to us known math and science to describe a particle traveling faster than the speed of light, but it doesn't actually tell us anything about how It's done. Saying that a muon can reach the surface of the earth because distance becomes relative does not change our understanding of how this impossible feat is physically accomplished.

but i have the opposite problem of overly empathetic people. I spend so much time analyzing everything that i can't relate with people.

There is nothing rational about the actions you just described. There is nothing rational about contemplating your place in the universe. You have just admitted that the reason you like science is because it makes you feel good about primeval forces you can't control and can't understand. Against the backdrop of inevitable death, you feel like you at least have some semblance of control because you can at least describe what this place is and what's going to happen next. Awe and wonder are non-rational. Engaging them is non-rational. Using scientific equipment outside of experimentation or demonstration is ritual. It is prayer. It is meditation. You are a religious and spiritual person.

I thought about this recently, and what skepticism of religion mostly breaks down to is their own definition of what they think a god is. Yes of course you don't believe a sky wizard when you yourself defined god as such.

I disagree. How is it irrational to want to know how the world around you functions? That to me seems the most rational thing possible.
> Against the backdrop of inevitable death, you feel like you at least have some semblance of control because you can at least describe what this place is and what's going to happen next.
I do love being able to describe this place and what's going to happen next, but I don't pretend it gives me control. I have never been happy believing something someone told me, ever. I have always wanted to investigate for myself instead. The investigation I have done lead me away from religion and towards science, because science is reliable. When you look up an experiment- any experiment; the quantum particle twin-slit experiment for example. You can do the experiment yourself or watch someone else do it, you can see the result in front of you: you don't have to believe on blind faith.

>>135346824
I can believe that something, perhaps the universe itself, warrants the title of God. However, any definition of god that I've ever seen in a religious context, especially a Christian one, is obviously disprovable.

Because humans have evolved to be both exceptionally good at pattern recognition and incredibly imaginative. >>
>>135348233
Don't worry we are getting there.

Lessons told in the past to teach the future, weaved into fiction. Do you believe we are smarter than our ancestors or perhaps more intelligent?
>>
>>135348706
We as a human species- that's debatable. We as a sample of the top 25% of humans? Absolutely we are more intelligent than the top 25% of humans from two centuries ago and beyond.

I recognize the value in religious text, as a tool to teach and learn from that proved invaluable over the last 2000 years at least, but I think 20th century living has given us a much better way to acquire knowledge than religious texts.

>>135347226
attaching emotional meaning to the unknown is not the same as getting a better sense of your surroundings. All of your arguments are non-sequiturs. Strong showing.
>>
>>135349296
My case is that you should try and experiment for yourself rather than believe anyone- religious or otherwise; the people who love the unknown are the ones who make the unknown known to us. It is they who "get a better sense of their surroundings" and show the world how they can do it too if they follow the same experiment. Not sure how you, or anyone can disagree with that. Don't you want to see for yourself?

So you define the accumulation of facts as intelligence? And we just came to the conclusion about the value of knowledge in fiction text and you accept it. Is the Bible then the most intelligent book ever written? We are using your definition here.
>>
>>135350490
No I mean biologically, the average global IQ has slowly risen over the time we've been able to record it, there's no reason to suspect it hasn't been slowly growing forever, meaning the farther back in time you look the less intelligent average human you will find. This obviously doesn't account for racial differences, etc but it still a good indicator of our history. So by that logic, the bible was written at a time when IQ was quite a bit lower than today's and is thus almost not worth reading. That would imply that the bible was written by an average man though, where we know that's not the case. For it's time, the bible was a masterpiece of intellect, but by now modern scientific practices have disproven much of it's claims.

Not idiots, no. However, they did do tons of idiotic things for absolutely no reason, in the name of gods that nobody alive today even believes in. We know from their writings and arts that the Greeks and Romans were very smart for their time, but compared to an average human today, the average ancient roman was no different except predisposed to a slightly lower IQ.

Hah! I give you an ovation for figuring out what I was going for with the Intelligence question.
It is getting late here in Sweden so I lump >>135352021 in with your second part.
They had no idea for a lot of things, simply because they had to start earlier than us, we are at the end of this amazingly complex, mysterious wild ride called humanity, reaping the benefits of what our ancestors have collectively and separately worked and learned together only by being united through their ideals and values for truth and visions of a stable future. And even the Greeks inherited lessons of knowledge from their predecessors. So for us to call ourselves more intelligent than our ancestors who we owe so much to is nothing more than arrogance and dishonorable to the giants who have laid the groundwork for the western civilization.
>>
>>135355029
But we are more intelligent than our ancestors, that doesn't stop us from being thankful for their contribution, the two things are not exclusive.
>reaping the benefits of what our ancestors have collectively and separately worked and learned together only by being united through their ideals and values for truth and visions of a stable future.
Just as they reaped the benefits of a society that came before them, so do we. They had a good foundation to build off of, and gave us an even better one. We too will leave this world a better foundation for the next generation.

I think religious text helped get us to where we are and for that, I am thankful. I also think religious text is mostly useless at this point in time now that we have more conventional and practical ways of recording history / laying the foundation for the next generations. It doesn't require religion at all, and in a lot of cases religion is detrimental in the modern world.
