In the Netflix version of The Secret they were trying to show how negative thoughts prompt negative situations ( in a paranormal external manner, as in, depression causes you to get hit by a meteor through some cosmic reflection of your thoughts ) and they gave an example of some cranky commuter stuck in traffic. Then they showed some happy schmuck riding a practically deserted major highway home. He had 'happy thoughts' and so avoided any traffic. People believe this stuff.

I am atheist and I agree with you. Religion and spirituality is for the weak minded. However I don't have enough faith in humanity to believe the average person will ever be intelligent enough to function without superstition.

Religion is the opiate for the masses that keeps them in line. Your average idiot cannot function without the rules that religion creates. Without religion you just get a bunch of degenerates who think they can do anything with no consequence.
