Heres a fun thing to do with youtube if you want to start mining user accounts in youtube:-
1) Install Perl
2) Follow the instructions to set up a new youtube account and API key
3) Update this script with your api key

and you can now use it to mine information that users upload from the commandline. Its very easy to search for videos users are uploading or liking. You can also use other functions to modify your own playlist
4.) You can use something like CURL to download any lists of videos if you ever wanted to directly archive them.

Anyway that's what I would do if I were some kind of data vigilante. You might learn something about programming.
