I think perhaps a lot of the mistrust of our institutions is to do with them not being taught in schools, or at least them not being taught as much or in the same way as they once were, children today are taught to question our history as much as they are taught that it happened. It was perfectly fine the past few hundred years to tell a child that a fact had happened, like that we had a large number of colonies around the world, but that information is presented to the child alongside the argument that being a part of the British empire was net negative experience for whatever country, this is supposedly done in the interests of giving two sides to it, but in actual fact at best they are both being presented as equally valid points, omitting the fact that being a part of the British empire usually resulted in a huge infrastructure boost and the gift of our legal framework and all of its evolution. Also the time that they are being taught to question could be spent learning more facts.

Britain has the best odds of success, IMO, through exactly what you described. I try to every day but to be honest with you, you have more knowledge on the role of the British Monarchy than 99% of people I've ever discussed this topic with on Brit/pol/ (and its pretty much daily as I mentioned). Brits simply do not care, and do not care to know about their monarchy. The stigma of the monarch that exists in the United States (I'd imagine) exists here too. People associate the power of Monarchs with 20th century Dictators like Stalin and Hitler, neglecting the fact there isn't a single queen or king in history that wielded that sort of power.

We are in a position now where if the Queen used her (legal) powers, there's a VERY strong possibility the Supreme Court may be successful in overturning it, or mob rule aka people may just decide they don't want a 90 year old woman who has done nothing her entire life to make her a respected monarchy (nor none of her family) simply deciding to take an active role on her death bed. When Liz dies, it will go one of three ways. Either everything goes back to normal, the monarch is dismissed entirely, or a new light is shed upon the monarch and we see a change in public opinion. The first is most likely but the middle is more realistic than the latter IMO. Our chances of ever having a Monarch fulfil their legal role were ultimately tarnished in 1689, and then again in 1707.

Exactly, and the English concept of "liberty" (the magna carta, habeus corpus, bill of rights, act of union, civil war, glorious revolution, etc, etc) has backfired massively in society, because 'liberty' can now not be disassociated with democracy. I am not an absolutist by any means, England has not had an absolute monarch, arguably ever in its history, but certainly not since 1200. But for people not to be able to differentiate absolutism monarchism (which was still, nothing of the sort we saw in the 20th century) from constitutional monarchism, to traditional monarchism, to even damn near absolute monarchism - where they wield absolute power but can be removed from their role (England 800 AD-1688 Ad). It's a greater atrocity here in Britain because to not understand monarchism is to not understand our own system.

This country will fucking die before we see the monarch restored, I'm almost sure of it, but I'll LARP on and try my best to make the case for monarchism, or to even be a non-bias partisan and simply educate people on what the British crown is.


On an interesting note, the Crown its self has not been devolved of powers. In 1975, the Queen's Governor General fired the Australian Prime Minister in response to a government shutdown, but the Queen herself cannot do that - despite being the one who authorises the fucking power in the first place. The problem with it is, and where Britain and America are strongly different to each other is, the Founding Fathers established a Constitution pertaining to how governance ought to be carried out & included the entrenched Bill of Rights as the centerpiece of government. Yep, the Naturalization Act of 1790. Perhaps I shouldn't be critical. That act alone would solve a great deal of the problems America is facing. It automatically sorts out the homicide problem in the US with black on black crime which seems to be the biggest critique against the Second Amendment.
