Well alot of great art have come from some of the poorest. You hear and see work that have come from years past from people who seem larger than life but nothing recently.

There still is, but they're drowned out by the torrential shitflow that is the internet. For every good scientist there's 20 popsci blogs. For every good writer there's a hundred teenage shortbus-riding ff writers. Half the artists nowadays make ((modern art)) or draw porn for the weebs and furries because that's where the money is.

It seems like the last great significant person is thomas pynchon.
