I don't think that Southern Europe or Latin America should be considered as belonging to the Western Civilization. I don't think that these two regions are identical either, alhouth they share properties absent in northern europeans.

In summary, we have different cultures that reflect in the level of organization, transparence and sucess as democracies.

To put all together, it is a disservice for us, latinos, in the search of our own way of development. Southern europeans also have their own future.

Italy and Iberia are far more part of 'Western Civilization' than most of the former eastern bloc 'northern europeans'. hell, Central and Northern Italy are one of its originating centres
