Allow me. Most of the issue stems from the increasingly liberal consensus of the population. More people believe the weak deserve crutches. While I'm fine with providing assistance when needed, the problem is that so many people will leap to provide care at the simple request. If someone's in a bad situation, you should always find out why before determining if they truly deserve help. I genuinely want to help people, which is why I went into medicine, but I'm not going to give free drugs to the man that spent all of his money on OxyContin so that he can get back on his feet.
