This cube sat will potentially outshine every star in the sky, even Venus and the International Space Station. It is a Cube-Sat/Mini-Satellite

Their app that easily locates the satellite is restricted to people who crowdfunded and its in russian. I used heavens above to locate it (it didnt show up in the app for a few days)

They hope to inspire youth and US to put our own objects in space. It only cost them $10,000 to get the payload ready and on the rocket (along with other payloads on the rocket) and NASA has launched a few cubesats that only use a old smartphone as the computer board, total cost $3,500
We could totally do this guys, a 4chan or pol Satellite. Personally I think it would be cool to load up a bunch of meme images onto the sat, have a camera on the sat pointing at the Earth and blackness of space, you could see the random memes on a monitor next to the window to space. Could even see ufos :)
I made a vid how to find the Satellite as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q__cIht-LTE

here is the app to see the ISS, Iridium Flares and Mayak in space from your location :)
Everything on schedule
bump for interesting topic
>Mayak’s practical purpose is to test a technology for reducing space junk, by dragging small satellites back to Earth. One can hasten the downfall of satellites by increasing their surface area. Mayak’s reflectors increase the satellite’s length from 0.3 metres (prior to launch) to 3 metres, greatly increasing the atmospheric drag it experiences.
>If all goes well, Mayak will be dragged back to Earth in weeks, not years.
Sounds nice, and cool that it will only be up there for a few weeks

Is there any laws about putting high powered lasers in orbit for 10 grand?
We could use them to shoot down the Russian cube sats
>>135135822
Yep
>>135132841
We should shoot it down just for the hell of it

This. Was worried this was going to be some big, bright, annoying piece of space junk for years. Glad to see the engineers aren't completely oblivious
