The problem with transitioning is that it requires medical procedures that prevent a service member from deploying. Because they require medications, this also prevents them from doing anything long term that I couldn't just get someone else who is healthy.

The worst part about letting trans in the military is because of the physical fitness. If a MtF trans gets the physical standards for female, it's complete fucking bullshit. Because females (USMC PFT) only need 8 pull-ups and run 21 mins to get a perfect PFT. While males need 20 pull-ups and 18 mins. To anyone that reads but has never ran 3 miles consistently before, shaving 3 mins off your run time is huge as shit and demanding. It's common for male Marines to run faster than 21 mins, and male Marines are considered slow if you do.

Physical fitness is tied to your promotions, so if a trans MtF is allowed in, they are fucking the system and taking advantage of it. Females will never be as strong as men in large groups.

I work with two. Yesterday one didn't come in (and I never really see the other one).

One was already taking female PT tests, using female bathrooms, etc. and we were getting briefed about how we need to start accepting them. The other was transitioning.

I think it's going to work this way...Trump will have to sign an order (probably NDAA which rewrites our expenditures), which probably won't become effective until 2018 and it will offer severance packages to trans troops. You can still be trans and stay in, but you'll have to go back to your boy/girl regulations/uniform and pay for your own hormone therapy.
