Why should transgender people, who have astonishingly high rates of attempted suicide, be allowed to serve in the military, which is a high stress, high anxiety environment, an environment which also places them in proximity to weaponry?

Transgenderism, just like depression, is a mental disorder and the military already screens for people who have a history of self-harm. If transgender people have high rates of self-harm, should that not be a reasonable characteristic to screen for in the military?
