I work in film production, and honestly you'd be surprised (or rather, totally unsurprised; /pol/ really is always right) by how fucked up this industry really is.

I won't even bother touching on the whole diversity thing. Suffice to say that it really is as cut and dry as "fuck whypipo". And the whole paedophilia thing is also completely true (a couple of weeks ago, I was explicitly told during a casting meeting to look for the most attractive black 13 year old that I could find... It was for a single inconsequential scene, and yet the director absolutely insisted on this and went into lots of detail about what he was looking for...).

What might actually surprise people is the wastefulness and total lack of professionalism in the industry.
Since managing the budget is a big part of my job, it's something that I'm keenly aware of. For example, when you make a new film, the production has to be registered as a new LLC (basically a brand new private company) for legal and tax reasons. It's very common for a film in preproduction to have to just buy a whole new office off the shelf (new everything - desks, chairs, everything). At the end of production, we just do a fire sale to get rid of all this (almost brand new) stuff as quickly as possible, or worse, we just throw it in a landfill. It's extremely wasteful.
This is why companies like Netflix are doing so well. The movie industry is set in its ways. It's too fat and bloated. In hindsight it was only a matter of time before a lean new startup with an eye on the bottom line burned this whole thing to the ground.

I haven't been to Alamo but I've been to others. In my experience the screens were a bit small and the sound was uncomfortably loud to compensate. Additionally, I remember looking at the prices of an Alamo and it was like $50 a head, not including drinks, or maybe just a couple or something. I hadn't gone to a cinema for years until someone asked me if I'd like to see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse. I was like "wtf is that?" but now I go about once a month because it's a reasonably priced and enjoyable experience.

They show old movies as well as new ones. I go more for the old ones from when I was growing up and never got to see in a cinema. I like to get there an hour early and grab a drink at the bar with friends before going into the cinema and ordering a pizza or some wings and a boozy milkshake.

To be honest, this is a good point. Hollywood and the video game industry has oversaturated the market, purely by being alive so long. There is so much good shit out there, why should I see the latest thing? Especually in the case off gaming where a new release will be unfinished, bug ridden and lacking DLC.

I always wait a good few years before playing or seeing anything really except in a few rare cases.

Last christmas someone gave me some free movie tickets for any film. I still haven't used them, nothing worth watching has been on in the last 6 months. Though Dunkirk looks alright I might go see that, but then again, I have several hundred classics on my hard drive right now that need watching that I could watch instead. I could watch Dunkirk, or I could instead watch The Longest Day, which I really need to get around to watching as I hear it's fantastic. There is only a short amount of time in our lives and spending time on something is more expensive than the money you pay to be legally allowed to see something at the point. Sure you can pirate a game, but $5 on steam sale is barely a thing anyways, you are paying in hours spent playing it.

Same with anime too really, and wetern tv shows. I have several hundred in the backlog.

The entire entertainment industries of the entire world could just down for a decade and I think I'd be just fine with it.

I notice many who were previously our friends for years barely ever call anymore & have made comments when we've been in their company, criticising us almost for our success and happiness

My wife and I aren't rich at all, we just live within our means & I have a good job in a trade & can take care of us. She's pregnant with my first kid & really enjoys being at home & keeping a nice house, & her girlfriends have harped at her about feminist bullshit criticising her for wanting to be a good wife & mother because MUH fucking traditional gender roles and MUH patriarchy. It's sad because it really upsets her and she's almost embarrassed to talk about her day now because they don't value or respect that she likes who she is & what she does around the house & in our relationship.

I make enough now for her not to have to work & for us to still have a bit of fun like renovating the house, buying toys like a fishing boat & camper, go on a cheap trip once a year... we mentioned a kitchen reno we were doing a while back & one of the feminazis my wife used to call a friend snapped at us that "you shouldn't even be complaining about your kitchen there's nothing wrong with it, my kitchen is only x big and my house is way smaller than yours and I don't complain, and you have the nerve to complain about your privileged life". Like excuse fucking me bitch, I wasn't handed that house for free I worked my dick off for it it wasn't a privilege, and go fuck yourself no one forced you to settle and buy the smallest shittiest house in town, maybe you should have waited and saved more if you wanted a bigger house instead of taking a mortgage you can't afford and buying the first piece of shit you walked into.

I barely even make more money a year then half of them but they spend like demons and make poor decisions... they're more concerned with buying new consoles and games every week. Drinking their faces off every weekend. Using credit to took vacations multiple times a year, see shitty movie after shitty movie every weekend at theatres even though they pay monthly for every single streaming service available...

Like shit it's not complicated, hell my wife and I have 1 credit card between the two of us and it's only got a $2000 limit with no balance on it because it's for EMERGENCY expenses only.

And it's like that bothers them. They're bothered were able to be happy and successful living within our means and somehow think we didn't earn this or it somehow fell into our laps.

What kind of asshole resents their friends success... when any friend of mine has a success in life I'm genuinely happy for them and congratulate them. I don't understand the bitterness some people have...

Why is everyone not talking about the fact that every single film is just liberal propaganda. Everyone dresses to gay, talks too gay, has made up "modern" problems, uses stupid smug humor, actors seem extremely fake and not insincere. For fucks sake, there are a few good ones here and there, but for the past 10 years, the quality of film and television declined super quickly.

Netflix is stupid too because:
1) they can take things away at will
2) there is no way to "shuffle" episodes
3)every 4 episodes it asks you if you are still watching
4) they choose the content they want on their service
5) It keeps you in a bubble and is convenient enough for most people that they will never try to look into film enough to find films that actually interest them, instead of just being available.

Movies as we know them are in their last years because "muh free internets" and millennials would rather pirate all their entertainment. Jews in Hollywood BTFO, right.

Instead they'll get Boogie, Casey Neistat, and other neets playing vidya on twitch. --- this will be main stream media soon if not already.

Some will still pay for their entertainment through Netflix or HBO subs and will be rewarded with 2 hour movie scripts stretched into 10x1 hour episodic series where nothing happens for half of each episode.

Entertainment changes. Used to be people sat around a fire telling stories. Now we watch other people live their lives while we sit at a computer.
