Does anyone know of an accurate and reliable metric for measuring current American military power as compared to our allies and adversaries? One thing that Rome and the United States of America have in common is that both do/have propagate(d) the notion that their militaries are in decline when we know for a fact most of the time when this rumor abounded in the Roman empire it was false. Is the same true in the U.S. as would seem the case? We continue to be on the bleeding edge of military technology, we have launched several new naval ships and hold many ships in ready reserve status should the need arise for their deployment. Our spending is once again increasing not even including the black budget and we have bolstered our presence in Eastern Europe along the Russian border at the invitation of the states such as Latvia and Estonia. Also there is a THAAD now in both Poland and South Korea. NATO spending has increased and the alliance is healthy despite the protestations of Trump which have actually increased ally percent of GDP defense spending. How by ANY metric can the U.S. and NATO not be in complete control of the world besides China (who have jack shit for resources now) (India, an ally against Pakistan) and (Russia who is fucked more and more with each passing green technology invention)?

Because it's Germany moron and not a fully sovereign country, this just shows that countries, which are quasi protectorates aren't doing shit about almost anything their hegemon does surprise surprise.

Little money was there for your classical education Rome wasn't as powerful as it is made out to be by many. Sure it could crush any given opponent on it's own, as long as they were alone and didn't manage to find a decent number of allies. Because of this fact most of the Roman power was based on clever strategic bounds and alliances.
>We continue to be on the bleeding edge of military technology
Might be true in some cases and in experimental matters, but the troops aren't particularly well equipped compared to other western powers, if you compare the systems in use overall with all countries.
>new naval ships
There are many problems with those ships and the cost are exploding, the reason behind those problems are likely companies having deals with politicians and diversity and a lack of competent white workers. I think your understanding of actual military power is rather limited, nobody claims that the US isn't currently the leading power especially, if we take the West as a hole, but you have too look at our trajectory and it's not looking good in the midterm and longterm future. If you look closely enough you can already pretty clearly see the signs of this future.
