>Feminist inventor created the world's first 'self-cleaning house' because she was sick of housework: Centenarian built a 'giant dishwasher' home that washed and dried itself using 68 devices - but lost the patent and passed away in anonymity
>Frances Gabe of Newbury, Oregon grew tired of housework in the 1980s while raising two children and created a house that would clean itself
>Through its own patent, comprised of 68 individual patents, she crafted a series of sprinklers and drying machines that would channel water into drains that led outside
>She received notoriety during the home's heyday, but disappeared from the public eye later in life
>Gabe was called 'difficult' by friends and was not liked by her neighbors because of her eccentric tastes
>She passed away relatively anonymous, having divorced and outlived her two children
>An earthquake decimated the technology of the home in 2001 and is now inhabited by a man who uses it as a 'wintering habitat for honeybee colonies and campground for traveling cyclists'

What a cunt.
>The house was designed such that the floors were slanted outwards towards gutters at the edge of the room to allow water, spewed from the overhead sprinklers installed in every room, to drain directly outdoors to her doghouse

This reminded my of an old fart I saw on TV decade ago. He dug-up a underground warren and moved there to hide from his nagging wife, who was kept out by tunnels being too thin. Both are probably dead now.

Top fucking kek
I don't get the hate here.
I'm an engineer and I think it's pretty cool. The one thing to know to have a durable house is not to let water pool. Water runs downhill. She just used that concept.
And then apparently the other thing was to build in seismic protection. Fate is weird sometimes. She solved one problem, another appeared.
I like her.
I don't see why people hate her. She used some ingenuity to make radical changes to her environment that suited her.
