What's /pol/'s consensus on capital punishment?

>surprisingly far more expensive (your tax dollars) than life imprisonment
>some criminals commit such horrible crimes that they probably shouldn't be allowed to live, but should the state be allowed to have the power to kill a citizen?
>leaves no room for undoing a decision if new evidence comes to light

Should be used for biblical offences such as sodomy.
>>
>>134858638
Most of the world's problems could be solved by simply hanging a few hundred specific people.

Public trials with broad discovery.

Grand juries. So if you hand up an indictment for a capital crime, then let's get it out there.
>>
What did you say about taxes and cost?
>>
>>134858638
how is it more expensive to kill a 25 year old murderer than it is to house and feed him for 60 years?
>>
>>134859236
We did that for thousands of years and civilization stalled for thousands of years as a result.

People are supposed to be prosecuted with evidence, not conjecture or mobbing...
...but the masses are ignorant of science, epistemology and due process.

> What did you say about taxes and cost?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/jun/20/california-death-penalty-execution-costs

>The alternative to capital punishment – sentencing the most serious crimes to life in prison with no chance of parole – would by comparison be much cheaper. The authors calculate that every year California spends almost $200m more than it would were all death row inmates transferred on to life without parole.

>Capital punishment is rife with hidden costs. The extra security involved in death row adds about $100,000 a year per prisoner, the initial trial costs more than $1m on top of that of a life-without-parole case and each appeal costs $300,000 in lawyers' fees.

http://deathpenalty.org/facts/5-myths-death-penalty/

>there are a lot of unavoidable costs that make a death sentence far more expensive than a sentence of life without parole.

>Most of these costs result from the unique status of the death penalty within the US justice system. Because it’s the only truly irreversible form of punishment, the Constitution requires a long and complex judicial process for capital cases, including several levels of mandatory review after a death sentence is issued. The appeals process takes decades to complete.

>Studies of the California death penalty system, the largest in the US, have revealed that a death sentence costs at least 18 times as much as a sentence of life without parole would cost.

It's a very, very bad idea in the West. When you live in a ZOG, ultimately any power you give to ZOG will one day be used on you. It won't be used on the big nigger buck you imagine. In a ZOG, you want to take as much power AWAY FROM THEGVT as you can. Look at the way things are going in just 5 years: fag marriage, open trannies, demanding bathroom access...recall when people said the "slippery slope will never happen, goy."

Wrong. Executions are cheap. Being on death row for decades, making appeal after appeal is expensive. Most scum on death row die of old age, not execution. The solution is simple. Limit appeals to five years.

>>should the state be allowed to have the power to kill a citizen?

No. That power should remain in the hands of twelve citizens on the jury. As the Founding Fathers intended.
>>
Prison protects criminals from justice.
Capitol punishment should not be the gov'ts buisiness (they're TERRIBLY inefficient)

You'd have to pay me a lot for ignoring my morale concerns. And you need more than one person to get a death penalty sentenced and executed.

>Wrong. Executions are cheap. Being on death row for decades, making appeal after appeal is expensive.
It's almost like being on death row for decades is standard practice now for capital punishment, how exactly was what I said 'wrong'?
>>
>>134858638
>surprisingly far more expensive (your tax dollars) than life imprisonment

Only because it isn't carried out quickly. Get rid of the Jews in the legal system, and the death penalty will not only be cheap, but also effective. Also,

.
>leaves no room for undoing a decision if new evidence comes to light

People have always accepted some amount of collateral damage as a fair price to pay, in order to be able to live in a free and safe society.
>>
>>134859604
That's fucking retarded there's probably several ways to offset a lot of those costs. Prisoners are given too many rights in the west.
>>
>>134859604
>https://www.theguardian

You might as well quote George Soros.

>>no chance of parole

No such thing when there are democrat politicians. Especially in California.

>>$200m more than it would were all death row inmates transferred on to life without parole

You could save a lot more money if you shoot the fuckers, like Commiefornia was suppose to. Not executing prisoners sentenced to death is a crime. Politicians need to be arrested for failing to enforce that punishment.
