People have different tastes and preferences in food, it's not impossible that these differences follow statistically observable trends that correlate with racial divisions. Blacks certainly SEEM to like watermelons and fried chicken more than white people do, and this difference could very well be genetically based.

Modern melons themselves originated in africa.

If anyone deserves that stereotype, it's the Chinese. Everyone was eating watermelon and chicken when I went there, and watermelon flavored snacks, including gum, tea and even cigarettes were everywhere. Also KFC all over the place.
