Some of those changes might have been good. Others were obviously extremely bad. Leftists showed literally incapable of telling good from bad. Leftists were unable to tell which economic policies destroyed Venezuela's economy, and applauded all of them. This is a profound truth.

Socialism in what sense? Let's keep in mind that these academic terms don't mean the same things they used to. If by socialism you mean a progressive tax code, support for the public sector, and regulation of business and commerce as determined through the democratic process then you're in line with most of the country.

However socialism/marxism just doesn't fucking work. The "proletariat" can't fucking own and operate the means of production and having an authoritarian military junta putting guns to the back of the heads of the workers to prevent famine isn't evidence of success. It just doesn't work.

Capitalism has existed since the birth of consciousness and trade, it is the only viable means of economic operation. However monopolies and corporatism is bad and must be curtailed for the betterment of society and the markets themselves, plus there isn't anything wrong with the state operating their own corporations or operations to provide services to the people or revenue streams for themselves to provide services. That aspect of socialism isn't terribly bad, but the hardcore Marxist mindset is absolute cancer and you need to get away from it.
