Only problem is that, as I understand it, there's no jobs where these shitheaps are.

Depends on the location.

A professional athlete bought the house next door to my grandparents who live in the most expensive area in the state.

When my grand parents bought their house there, it was a working class area full of Greeks and Jews who immigrated after WW2. Now it's predominately Chinese with very few Greeks and Jews left.

that's correct. there are tons of these allotments here with big giant houses and they are generally well outside the large cities with no public transit systems

>>
Gwinett County, Georgia is a good case study for this.

Whites began moving there in droves in the 90s and building all these new McMansions in new planned subdivisions. Gradually, the whites moved out. Now the place is infested with mestizos, living about 20 per house. Property values have plummeted. Crime has gone up. Public services has gone down. The same thing is probably happening in many "new money" areas that have fallen from grace.

Basically it had to do with poor city planning and virtually no zoning laws, so it was this mad cash grab by developers and old landowners, with the city commission complicit in all of it.

The infrastructure couldn't support the population growth, and so traffic was terrible and services were streched. And the whites with money just moved to other monied Atlanta suburbs.

Here's an article about the demographic shift.

The schools went from 80% white in 1995 to 26% by 2015. I don't think white flight from even Detroit happened that fast.

http://www.ajc.com/news/local/look-the-changing-racial-makeup-gwinnett-schools/QDOlh8mGvzdZVVrLdKsU5N/

And here's an article from AmRen about it:

I grew up in the Atlanta suburbs during this time period, so I saw it all happen first hand. It's crazy.

Its really weird how they use mainly northern european wooden house building styles, but mix in roman-inspired architecture and builds it out of stone.

There is no unified style to these houses, its just a mix of different styles into something really ugly, but I guess its a good reflection of America in general.

Because you've got lots of room for things to happen? I'd love a nice house like the one my grandpa had but wasted on three living rooms and a huge dining room that was filled with nothing but junk and furniture. You could have a music room, a tech lab, a gun room, and still have space left over. I can't do half that shit in my apartment and it's already packed with tools for my various interests.

I've seen some newer model houses that are far less spacious and I don't get how anyone would find them preferable. My aunt's front room was 8x8 and once she put in a couch and table, you had as much leg room as you did on an airplane seat.

That house probably has 80% of the floorspace of a mcmansion.

McMansions are big open spaces, but limited floorspace because they designs are so shitty. Take a look at: >>134457713 where the stairs are. Those steps should extend into the wall seamlessly without the handrail and awkward space.

That's indicative of the entire building layout. There's little corner closets and poorly designed rooms with no forethought given to how people actually move around and use the space.

Then it was 1-5x your combined yearly wage with your spouse.

Now it's 30x your yearly wage with your spouse, and you're expected to get a 30-40 year mortgage.

If you don't currently own a home or aren't inheriting property from your parents, you and your kids and their kids and their kids are all virtually guaranteed to be landless renters.

A lot of people who own property are also probably going to become landless once the taxes against dem evil homeowners begins. Only the upper 10% will be landowners in 200 years time.

Well that's new to me, slate or ceramic, most flashing is done in lead, and metal gutters/aprons in galvanised steel, unless they've got copper roofs to go with them, and the Palace of Westminster (Parliament building) has the interesting quirk of cast iron guttering.

Though scalloped shapes is more of an issue of pedantry over some hyperbole.

I know that pain, southern North West Indiana here, we sure as hell aren't Chicago, but we also ain't rural. Our whole existence is half hillbilly half nigger, and the only way out is going to college and never coming back. Coupled with that, the Gary/Hammond/northerner crowd keeps pushing south and Chicago has gone to shit which is pushing a fair chunk of them to our side of the state line.

Everyone knows our way of life is dying. 30 years ago we were a corn town full of farmers and steel mill workers. 30 years from now we will all be on the dole while the houses our fathers built crumble away. Meanwhile we sit here and drink until we forget, then take it day by day.

I hope something changes soon, because I think it might just kill me to see this town die.

Interesting, though those environmental regulations are rather faulty - elemental lead has near zero effect on humans, flora, fauna or aqua ecology, yet is banned because of relation to lead salts. Some states even ban the use of lead ammunition on outside ranges for this reason.

>copper also helps slates resist airborn algae and moss build up
I'd known that copper had an anti-microbial effect even in small amounts - its considered for some applications in hospitals for this, and even useful for a kitchen - but I wasn't aware it was effective for algae and moss. It makes me think that the reason that its not used here is more a focus of it being stolen.

Soviet comblock apartments confirmed, these are all over Moscow.
>>
>>134454747
A lot of them are bought by investors, and get moldy and unlivable, sitting empty for months, if not years. Then they're teardowns, when the bubble bursts. It's happening now, a lot of urban explorer videos are done in abandoned McMansions.
A lot will have "accidental" fires.
Some might be broken up into apartments, like the Victorian's in SF, and brownstones in NYC. Or just sit and fall apart like Detroit. They're not built very well, they won't last long.
When the bubble bursts, some 1%er will buy whole blocks of them, tear them down, and redevelop the land into whatever is popular.
Or, we'll have a situation like the 80's, when selective bubbles burst, when you could get multi-million dollar houses for pennies on the dollar in CA, and huge estates in mid-state NY for nothing.
Some may be converted to illegal elderly care, as that market is starting to boom with the Boomers getting old.

Looks just like my uncle's mcmansion he had in the 80s to the early 2000s. We used to do Christmas there

He upgraded to a true mansion after that
>>
>>134477660
Anything bigger than your 350 sq ft closet in your stepdad's basement is a mansion, yes

>specifically party store
Nope, bought it from arabs though. I'm a white American and an Irish German mix to boot so nice try.My family's been in the liquor and beer biz since prohibition. Yes, my party store's knee deep in east Cleveland, but I'm not worried. There's a shotgun under the counter
>I just got more drive then the dumb asses my age.
lol no, but I did take business courses at the community college as soon as I graduated HS.
Also I used to sell weed to juggalos and niggers of every stripe (*mostly black*) during high school, but again, nice try. Still thinking about opening up a dispensary once Ohio gets a little more chill on their weed laws.

It's actually the Pollacks who are the worst carpenters in the States.
>>
>>134463116
very boring looking. making the windows wider and changing the house color to white, gray or black would do wonders
>>
The architecture of these look so bad. I'd prefer a Victorian home or something built pre-1950s. I'd even prefer a tiny house over these.

Looks like something built by the CIA in the X-files to house their science projects.

I like A frames, too. They're nice, and if you make the main wall all window, it's an amazing view. My brother had one, in Alaska - but found out how much wasted space is in them, and how expensive it is to heat them. But they're great for keeping snow off the roof. The one in your picture is better, they don't have the wall of glass, but that metal roof is gonna be murder in the summer.

>>134479758
There is snow where I live but not that much. ~1m the most I have seen. Winter -30 C most cold.

if you dont put that kind of roof with heavy snow the roof collapses
the flatest the roof, the less rain it sustains
