In modern times, there have been some extremely capable female snipers. Brienne of Tarth in GoT is basically a genetic freak that could hold her own, but she's a real outlier. Against the undead, women could possibly perform well, but against an army of men, only modern weapons and tactics would make them useful. Remember that MOBILITY is MASSIVELY important strategically, thus making women a hindrance on most battlefields.

It took multiple years for a man to be even remotely decent at using a bow. This shit ain't easy. To be able to fire anywhere near the ranges you have to in warfare with enough force to penetrate light armor you need significant upper body strength.
Bows are, in absolutely no way, easier than a sword or a spear.

Does a bow mean when they fuck up they won't die? Yeah. But they won't accomplish anything either and just be a waste of resources.
If you absolutely must sent women into battle, give them a crossbow. If you give them a sword or spear they will inevitably route soon after they start taking losses and lead to morale loss and formation breaking. They won't be as effective as men with crossbows as their rate of fire will be lower but at least they won't be worthless.

The only time you would take women over men is when you absolutely need every last body, such as being sieged. In a siege situation they wouldn't have to fire nearly as far so a shortbow is a reasonable option and they could be used as melee combatants as well as their desperation should override their morale. If they lose the siege their men and sons could be killed and them and their daughters raped after all. That could very easily make their will to fight above mens, which could be a very useful tool. Men may also fight harder to protect the women fighting with them. This may not be a good thing however.
