Have you acquired/inherited any spoils of war? Any cool stories about them? Please share.

Also don't be a goof. Be sure to scrub any geolocation from pics, and don't post any details specific enough to potentially identify you.

Mine is I inherited a katana from my grampa. He was a naval officer in the Pacific theatre of WW2 and during a raid on an enemy sub, gutted the commander and lifted his sword.

Had it appraised. It's 400 years old, give or take, and was made by a guy named Hideaka Yoshida, who was the son of one of the top royal swordsmith's in the early Edo era. Apparently it was likely held by one of the mid tier palace guards for the emporer, then was dug up from some display case and reappropiated as a war blade for the officer my Gramps shishkabobbed.

>>134431511
My great gramps was "recruited" by the British army during ww1. Dude was arrested for a decades worth of bankfraud but got an out with the army. Amongst all his generic ww1/2 stuff is a notebook full of phrases in various languages, Morse code translator, gun and artillery maintenance notes and a kill list.
>>
>>134431511
honestly that looks like the kind of modern katanas they sell to foreigners, with a tacky dragon on the blade.
>>
>>134431511
we have shitload of things you could call "nazi memorabilia," but is really just everyday things used in occupied country. Letters stamped with Adolf, calendars with marked important dates (birth of adolf, creation of the reich, fall of france), coins and even german textbook (first lesson-adolf hitler, second lesson-the wehrmacht etc etc)

The funny things is that my grandma used old nazi calendars until late 1950s to mark things she needs to do. Im pretty sure she would have serious troubles with the commie government if somebody found out
>>

*Shrug* it's been appraised by a professional who made me a five figure offer on the spot.

If it looks like that then it's likely because the modern guys are trying to app that style.

We'll I wouldn't go that far, they are good people but I was pretty angry. I remember seeing it on the bench at my grandmothers in its case and asking about it. They brazenly told me the truth and what they planned, I remember understanding that it was morally wrong even at that age, I do t think women often understand these things.

It was pretty cool though it had a bayonet with it too.
>>
>>134432807
No, but I only got it 2 years ago. Who knows what level of maintenance it's received, but it's still very sharp and a lil greased.

Also has been sitting in a very arid gun safe (both in my possession and my dad's before me) so wouldn't expect too much rust.

none of the naval officers had anything but factory pressed blades made that year in WW2. family swords never left the home and anon is correct that the dragon is beyond what would be seen on historical weapons. its pressed into the blade with a hydrolic press

the most you see on real historical weapons from japan is the craftmans name tapped in with a chisel or a symbol for the four elements (its a aggregated symbol not individual kanji)l and half the time the name isnt the actual sword smiths name. there is a joke about it in japan. that a lesser knpown sword smith put a more well known sword smiths name on his blades when asked why he responds its to raise the value of the product. dry humor

My grandpa was fighting in France, when a fucking King Tiger tried to overrun his squad. He fucked up the driver by poking his katana through the vision block (katanas are 1000x stronger than tank armor), dived through the turret hatch and butchered the crew.

He then hid the King Tiger in his pack for 4 years while he basically single handed won WWII. He passed the KT down to my father, who passed it down to me. I now use the KT as a daily driver, it holds a lot of groceries, but fitting a childseat will be a pain (If I ever lose my virginity).

Sadly my old dads souvenirs got confiscated as his mob (parachute regiment) were notorious for picking up any weapon they found useful. All he kept in the end was his old bayonet which he used to dig in plants. The Luger, MP40/II and MG42 all went into a hopper on the fore deck of a troop transport then over the side with a load of other non standard kit.
What the fuck he actually intended to do with a belt fed machine gun is anyone's guess. A friend of his managed to smuggle an artillery Luger home but ended up chucking into a metal furnace.

My wife's grandfather was Romanian and fought alongside the Germans in the eastern front. I'm assuming he ran away when the Soviets fucked the Romanian and Hungarians flanks at Stalingrad because all she knows is that he returned to his village in Romania in rags and without any shoes, surviving on whatever he was able to scavenge. When he went to the ground, I picked up his knife and stabbed him in the upper left leg with it.

After I did that I told him I thought about keeping the knife, but decided he should hang onto it...

I'll let you guys in on a little secret about WWII war trophies. The person who originally captured the item is never the person who brings it home, soldiers were CONSTANTLY stealing shit from each other. If your Grandpa told you he got his loot off of a dead nazi I can guarantee you that he is a fucking liar. Most likely he stole it from another guy who took it from a German POW as he was being moved to a holding camp. Even nowadays soldiers are robbing each other. I knew a guy who got a little loot in Afghanistan and it was pilfered from his locker.

That's a Ken with Sankozuka, basically this:

A sword, with a blade at one end and a handle topped by three prongs shaped like a *sankosho 三鈷杵. Originally used by hermits and priests travelling through mountain areas to clear wild plants in their path, the sword took on a symbolic meaning in Buddhist prayers as a weapon to chase away the devil. A famous Kamakura period example can be seen in Kuramadera 鞍馬寺, Kyoto. The sankozuka-no-ken is often an attribute *jimotsu 持物 held by Buddhist figures such as *Senju Kannon 千手観音, *Monju 文殊 and *Fudou Myouou 不動明王

you know in ancient times rape wasn't even morally wrong when it came to your enemies, like if you were a viking 1100 years ago you'd go into an enemy village, cut the men down, and rape the women while thinking nothing of it, giving a highfive to your viking bro while you rape women side by side. It would be euphoric and you'd literally feel no moral degradation or regret at all, like zero, it wouldn't even enter your mind at any level. It's proof positive that morality is truly relative (or nihilistic maybe?) based on your society, upbringing, community, etc. This is why when someone starts preaching about women's rights, animal rights, childs rights, or really anything where it's argued moralistically, it's essentially nonsense and wholly subjective at every level. Morals are set by the masses and by popular and cultural opinions, nothing more nothing less and in 1000 years something that was considered completely taboo today might be as common as riding a bike or drinking water, it might be something that doesn't even weigh on your mind.

So my other grandpa, (not the one who stole a king tiger) was in Holland during the start of WWII. Stukas were constantly bombing their weed plantations, so my grandpa decided to take action.

One morning a Stuka was diving down towards a bong glassery, my grandpa climbed on the roof and just as the Stuka levelled out, he jumped up and grabbed the undercarriage. After biting the Luftwaffe pilots nose off, and dumping him next to a dyke, my granpda flew the Stuka to the UK, where he was hailed as a hero. He stashed the Stuka in a garage, and before he died he told us the location.

Its now my weekend driver (The King Tiger is for through the week, damn gas prices). But my Stuka (pictured) is used to drop the kids off at the playpark, and as a part time pizza delivery driver. If you every hear the screeching of a Jericho horn, followed by a four cheese pizzas hitting your door at 400 MPH, thats me.

My other OTHER grandpa (its a long story) was in the USAAF. He was on some secret op, flew on some plane called the Enola Gray or something. Saying that, I'd kill for a modern day built Panther or Stug. Modern materials and engine, painted to look authentic. You can get a good cold war era russian MBT for peanuts online, the only real expense is the rubber tracks to stop damaging the road when you use it to go grocery shopping.

I have a very rare black vietcong uniform. My pops was a tunnel rat in Vietnam and were in what the thought was a friendly village until one of the guys spotted a group of armed men jumping down into a hole. My pops went in after them and after a "fuckton of damn boobytraps" he set off smoke and got the hell out of there . They waited an hour and found all the ventilation vents. Well no one was coming out ,so what do they do? They start pouring fucking DIESEL down the hole and the vent pipes and lit them on fire. He said they heard them screaming through the vents for a while until
they burned up + asphyxiated.
After a sweep of the village they found a huge intelligence goldmine, propaganda material,a vietcong uniform, weapons etc. in a small room dug out underneath a hut. It was boobytrapped with a 500lb bomb and only didn't go off because the nail that the tripwire was wrapped around had fallen out of the hole. Probably from contantly setting-unsetting the wire loosened the hole.

This was a very rare find and a very rare opportunity to inflict damage on the actual enemy because ,as we all know, the vietnamese were great guerilla that were experts at blending in and inflicting damage.
It always made him smile seeing that uniform and if you open the display case you can still get just a whiff of that diesel fuel.

I was a contractor in afghanistan and was ambushed . 5 hour straight firefight. I'm jumping over a hesco barrier and an rpg hits the barrier about 20 feet down and I wakeup with a chunk of the hesco wire imbedded in my inteceptor vest right next to my heart.Kept the vest, left that wire in that hellhole of a country.

What it says doesn't always make it real. There were swordsmiths 150 years ago making blades like that to deceive buyers as well.

Even IF it's totally legit, that's not a sword a Sub commander would have used. The IJN had their own regulations on what can be used.

you can tell by the hamon line (the heat treated edge lines), the material used for the hibaki (sword collar), what it looks like on the interior of the tsuba (hand guard) that it is real. who would spend the time and money to counterfeit this, and go to all the great length of literally carving a dragon in the blade while it was still glowing red hot? that's lunacy. everything about that sword is period accurate. i mean, sure it's possible, but it's highly unlikely. OP said he had it appraised and it's real; i believe him based on all the obvious evidence.

>who would spend the time and money to counterfeit this
For the same reason why someone would make a fake of something rare today. They were rare and valuable 150 years ago too. It wasn't that uncommon for a unknown smith to write the name of a famous smith 200 years before his time and pass it off as an original. They're called gemei.

OP should have more than just one appraiser and it needs to be done in person too. And quite frankly, if it's legit someone in Japan would no doubt pay a lot for it.

A lot of those are also period fakes. It was pretty common for someone to take bed sheet, cut it down to size, then use a bucket or pail to draw out the red circle and paint it in and write some gibberish on it. The better ones took actual flags and they would pay a Japanese or Okinawan women to write some typical slogans and names. A lot of the latter ones also have Tojo's name on it. The Prime Minister ain't signing some lowly private's good luck flag.

You really don't understand faking? If there is a want, there is a reason. It's harder to pass off a fake if there aren't many out there in the first place so you usually don't fake the really expensive pieces.

DEAS(Direct Energy Artillery Systems), FGBT(Future Generation Battle Tanks),"Cloak" Tech & Advanced Aircraft.

A MIC group & a Occult group had a "Shadow War" going on that was going to spill into an actual War(It was over a contract disagreement & problems between both groups higher members). Since that wouldn't end well fora variety of reasons, the PMC/Security that works with/for me was sent in to "Calm the situation".

[KB Thread Archives: http://archive.4plebs.org/_/search/subject/knowledge%20bomb/username/anonymous5/tripcode/%21%219O2tecpDHQ6/]

What was eventually found out was that a 3rd Group(A Globalist IC group) wanted to MAD(Mutual Assured Destruction) those 2 Groups so they could make a Power Play. They had moles in both Groups, which took a while to clean up since they had backup from the Group they were apart of.

After settling the dispute & both Groups thanking me for getting involved, I acquired some fascinating(and useful) Combat Vehicles(DEAS & FGBT) from the MIC Group & some interesting "Cloak" tech from the Occult Group. The Globalist IC Group had some explaining to do, we found out that they were hired by a Occult-MIC Group who wanted to "Fill the Gap" that would occur if/when both of those Groups were eliminated. So I talked to that Occult-MIC Group and told them to change tactics & focus on Product.(Ended up getting some Advanced Aircraft from them)

All Groups involved since then have a much better relationship with one another & understand why I'm very good with Power Structures.

but to fake that sword makes no sense. sure, it's very expensive, but like other anon said, why counterfeit something in that price range when the money time and effort would be better spent faking something of higher value, is someone had that level of skill to even create a convincing forgery of that level?

you're literally saying people would rather counterfeit $10 bills instead of $100's, having all the expertise to make convincing high value money. that's fucking retarded.

Again, you don't understand faking. And as I said, they were faking these 150 years ago. They were making swords the exact same way 150 years ago as 400 years ago. It's pretty easy to make a fake then. Labor was also cheap then so to get a good engraver wouldn't be so hard either.

You're exactly the type of people that gets fooled by fakers each and every day. I've seen plenty of stupid fakes out there that you wouldn't think someone would fake too, but someone did.
>>
>>134460874

It's one of many things I do.

Something to point out is that Power Structures sometimes have/use there own parallel systems. So it's not impossible to get into but it really depends on Group and/or Location.

Yes. There's a lot of different knives by the family name, the company headed by the most experienced family maker.
