The flag is very old, it was used by the Old Welsh Kings like Cadawaladwr, even Henry VII used it.

In modern speak we switched it out from our Dewi Sant flag in 1959

I was actually born in Wales, but my parents moved to the US when I was young so I was raised here. I've been there a few times, the most recent being last year.
My knowledge of its history is pretty shit but basically we were invaded by the Romans, Normans and then ruled over by the English for the last 500 years or so.

I never knew that, seriosuly though it is important to preserve Welsh culture Eisteddfod must live on, and i'm not even Welsh, I do live close though, Wales is a beautiful place and I hope the Welsh language never dies it is one of the last bastions of the true Britons.
