If they can't get Trump they want to isolate him from nationalists advisors like Bannon, Miller and Gorkha.
Bannon is particulary feared because
1) he understands the media business and its vunerabilities
2) Hes known to have been influenced by neoreactionary thought which means he has a cohesive strategy of war on the media, university, think tank, deep state complex that they call the Cathedral.
They also think Bannon is more vunerable then say Miller because Bannon was only part of Trump's campaign after the primaries whereas Miller was with him way back.
