The books are okay; nothing beautiful or inspiring like tolkeins work but its a nice story of adventure and intrigues until GRRM loses the plot after the third book.

As a guy who read the first two books, as well as watched the first season, I think I have some credibility, at least for the beginning. With that said, I can say it's pretty blue-pilled.

Like everything past 2016 they began to focus on inclusiveness and being PC. One of the most popular characters in the show becomes Queen of inclusiveness with a midget advisor, TWO eunuchs in her inner circle, a shit skin whore turned advisor, and an Arab lover. I honestly question why i watch the show sometimes because i hate like 60% of the airtime they give to muh powerful wymyn Arya and Dany. They are literally the worst written and 1 dimensional characters in the show but get arguably 50% of the air time.

Arya's story is the fucking worst. It's so far fetched that its almost hard to comprehend. Besides vikings has so many historic references to anyone that knows about real vikings, and tries to depict viking tribal society esp in s02. In the show Ragnar/Odin knows too much and goes insane like Odin and does the whole Odin in the ashen tree story which is about atheism and kingdom of god within man and real deep stuff (the first death is another tale of Odin btw), then loses his eye like odin and dies like Ragnar in the real life story.

At the end Ecbert recites what's believed to be an indo-aryan passage of the hebrew bible probably stolen from babylon that sums up the kingdom of god being within man and the whole vexation of spirit thing, and in the background you have the song 'laukr' by norse closet nazi band Wardruna which is about the rune symbolizing water as a mirror and how in indo-european lore, man created the gods and not the other way around. (The rune represents water and how man created the pantheon after seeing his reflection for the first time, it's a reference to the rigveda 10.109 and indo-aryan philosophy). No. One army gets defeated after the Lannisters destroyed Highgarden and killed off the Tyrell line by forcing Olenna to commit suicide with poison. Dany loses Dorne and Highgarden as allies quite quickly.

The scene itself was great. Humanising the Lannister soldiers and putting doubt in the sociopathic Arya's mind when she realised the trouble she caused at the Twins with the Frey's is why these men are so far from home.

Unfortunately that cameo is all anyone will remember of that scene. They could have at least put him in a helmet/hat and made his face dirty and scarred. His role in "Bastard Executioner"(It's a shame that was cancelled so much potential and questions left hanging) was much better because he looked the part for the world he was in.

I think the books are not necessarily red-pilled, but have genuinely good female characters. It's a medieval world where power is won by brute strength, and it doesn't pretend that the female characters are able to win this way (with the exception of one character, Brienne, who is written as a total freak of nature). Instead, the female characters steal their way into power by using their own biggest assets - sex and deception. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of men and women well, and doesn't pretend that they are the same.

However, the show is very bluepilled (particularly since the book material ended). Every other scene is some muh female empowerment bullshit. Plotlines involving Daenerys, the 'mother of dragons' (YASSSSSS QUEEN) are the worst for this.

I just finished watching Viking's first season. It's quite well filmed and documented (some bad time transitions sometimens though). But I've found it quite boring, I feel like everything shown in these 9 episodes could have been explained in two or three. I don't know, I really don't care at all about any of the characters, I don't feel sympathy nor disdain for any of them. I'll give a try to second season though, it seems it'll have more action.
