There was no such thing as 'political correctness' (there was but it was only a very very few people like at Berkeley because that school was always retarded). You see, with Windows and Mac, they have to appeal to the lowest common denominator, in order to maximize sales. Linux cares naught about who uses it. Thus you can make it look however you like. You could even emulate that old Apple UI.
