Concerning your other point, essentially you're saying that Americans should spend more time educating our youth on European political issues and history, but why? Who does it matter if Americans understand the Serbia / Croatia issue you use as an example?

Why stop there? Shall we teach our kids about every single conflict, cultural difference, etc., of every group of people the world over?

In other words, a bunch of Eastern Europeans' differences is not the be all and end all of "political matters".

That information is irrelevant to most of them. I'm from Romania (neighbouring country) and the intricacies of the relations between Serbs, Bosnians, Albanians, kosovar, Croatians and Slovenians (and let's not forget Montenegro) are not nearly clear to me. This is one order of magnitude more complex than Syria situation.

Because we're separated from 3/4 of the rest of the world by two oceans. And we have many states larger than most European countries, Russia notwithstanding. Sociologists say there are 9 different "nations", so to speak, within the United States.

We really don't have time, much less care, to follow Jermyn Corbyn or the PM of Botswana.

When it comes to history, though, it's almost all SJW drivel. It's all "whites, American, and Christians are bad blah blah blah".

When the schools do talk history, it's always slavery or Civil War or segregation.

Things we also don't teach adequately: economics, personal finance, philosophy, or logic.
