There isn't much demand from Europe to immigrate to the US anymore. You could throw open the doors, but you wouldn't get many more arrivals than the ones who are already applying, usually for specific reasons like work or marriage.

It's kind of like Japan - the US never curbed the number of Japanese allowed to immigrate to the US, but as Japan developed after WWII, the appeal of the US dropped a lot, and the Japanese simply stopped applying. The US has a much higher murder rate and other negative social indicators compared to a lot of European nations.

You asked, I answered. My point of contention is that allowing Euro's in is a good idea. Even their conservatives are liberal by our standards. You can see that in their absolutely dismal birth rates. We need to shore up our own and let the surplus liberals die out. In times past these people would've been killed by nature before reaching adulthood. Their loss will strengthen us as a whole as cruel as that is to say. Let people here who aren't afraid of sacrifice populate the future with more people like themselves.
