While inflation wasn't so bad and wages were better (in terms of inflation). Prices of everything were better it terms of cost / labor.

No texting or cell phones was nice, people would make plans instead of just doing everything on the fly.

The internet was just starting out, it had tons and tons of porn, but also was much more free. Search engines sucked, but there was geocities / tripod communities for everything.

People were much more ignorant of the world around them, and the media had full propaganda control of the masses. This seemed to be corrected by the internet, but (((they))) have sense adapted.

Finding new things / hobbies required a lot of exploring. People hung out more and tried new stuff together. Now people just google what they want. In some ways the internet has made us more isolated.

Lack of social media was great.

>>133838777
I was 16 in 1997, without social media everyone was banging everyone and no one knew.

TV shows during prime time seemed better, and it sucked if you missed an episode. I remember watching futurama for the first time on a tiny portable black and white tv from the 70s.

Pot was more abundant, but a lot weaker. Massive bags of swag / cheap brick weed flooded the city.

X and rave culture, I hit the tail end of it, but I was raving in warehouses at 14. Banging pretty much every girl my own age and then some while on X.

>Ended up at a college frat party at 15 high on X piercing a girls nipples for a blow job one night.

No. They didn't fuck niggers and we're not slutty compared to today.i went to college in the 80s and being a fag or slutty meant you die of aids so it kept people more chaste. No racial or feminist bullshit. None. Got my degree for free, no student loans. It was a great time to be young

Grown up in the 90ies, I like to remember it as the last decade that actually had some realness to it. Real family interactions, real human contact.

Real bonds between people and daily life involved mystery and adventure. Like you had to call up someone on their house phone to set up a meet (friend, date whatever) and then if he or she didnt show up at the place and time there was not much you could do. Just a small example.

It was truly a more intense and fascinating experience.

Everything seems so fake now.

This is all a bunch of nonsense. There was some black kid in my school (in NJ) who probably had every decent looking girl suck his dick. This was the mid 90s. Parents still had some control over their kids so interracial dating was less common. Face it though, you're not going to find a comfy place in the past.
>>
>>133839909

I feel like the fakeness never went away, but only became more streamlined thanks to the internet.

People were so fake back in the 90s, everyone invented a person that they pretended to be. The cliches in schools were so extreme, pretty much defined by what radio station you listened too.

Now with social media, it seems people create an ideal person that is standardized, rather than form groups in a cliche.
>>
>>133838273
There were basically no niggers in sweden or Germany or Norway for example. Muslims in all of Europe where probably like 5 million in total tops.

Each Country had their own currency.
And having national pride was something common and not despised.
Bitches werent glued to their smartphones.
Selfies didnt exist.
EU was not in our face all the time. It truly was a better World.
>>
>>133838777

No, females were not openly slutty. They did it covertly, because to be proud of it and open about it meant social ostracization.

Ditto obese people. You got openly mocked if you were fat.

Ditto blacks and their attitudes. Most were okay, and behaved like regular people, ghetto/gangster attitudes mostly confined to large cities.

Jobs were easy to get. No drug tests or major background checks, just reference checks.

Universities weren't full-scale leftist indoctrination camps. You could actually have civil debates about opposing views.

No selfie culture. People weren't as shallow and vapid and wilfully ignorant.

Degeneracy got openly mocked, too. Gays had some self respect back then.

Muslims were just another religious group.

You actually got real news in the papers and on TV and radio and magazines.

>You actually got real news in the papers and on TV and radio and magazines.

No no no, the newspapers and TV were the propaganda tools. People were clueless, the world was shocked when they found out about Clinton banging interns. Something they didn't want you to know had to be big before it got any coverage.

I remember chatter on TOTSE about a VMAPD (Vehicle mounted anti-personal device) aka a microwave tank (now called active denial system) AND man in the middle intercepts of the bulk of internet traffic (NSA) in 1998. I was called a conspiracy theorist, but I was right.
>>
>>133838273
The Internet was still the Wild West. Broadband didn't start to proliferate until the end of the decade, so people were dialing into America Online using 56kbps modems and a phone line. (That's a download rate of 7 kilobytes per second.)
So there was no youtube or netflix or anything heavy like that, but online gaming was pretty big since you can do that efficiently with only a little data. Chatrooms were big before sites like this and the vBulletin forums started to take off. The media mostly portrayed the internet as a place where pedophiles stalked children.
Windows 95 drove a lot of Internet adoption. I was a kid, and didn't get a computer with a modem until after Windows 95 came out. The Internet didn't become a killer app in itself until between 2000 and 2005. The graphical desktop was the killer app at the time - I'd been on the MS-DOS command line before. It just so happened that the graphical desktop and those promotional America Online CD's that always came in the mail made it really easy to get online.
>>
>>133838273
It was shitty, that world has always been fucking shitty and will never change kid. As long as we are mindless consumers of fast food and watch tv like mindless robots, the world will never change. If you want to go back to better time, it will have to be when Jews weren't in control of our government, banking and marketing. And i also hate faggots that say it was a better time back then because it was more "real", nigga wtf has changed since then? It's always been the same, it's mainly autists tho that can adapt to the new form of communication

>Being uber poor during that time, I horded trial disks and used some of those "free internets" a 14kbps connection with an ad banner on the top and bottom of your screen.

I loved downloading those porn dial up scams, that would dial Nigeria or something via your modem and throwing them on every school computer I could find.
>>
>>133840477
He's not completely wrong.

Look at anime now. There is a shortage of animators, and those that are around are making garbage non-shows with no plot or progression to the series. Normies eat that shit up and so they get high priority. Then shows like Attack on Titan get half seasons because they lack animation resources.

Video games is even worse. Approximately around 2008-2009 when the big bang theory aired normies started getting into video games. So what do we have now? All FPS and MOBAs with max 6 hot keys. Wouldn't want it to be too complex!

Basically everything gets dumbed down to appeal to the lowest common denominator. RTS? Flight Simulator? MMORPG with a lot of PVP elements? All gone. Sacrificed at the alter of the lowest common denominator. There will never be another Star Craft 1, there will never be another Command and Conquer, there will never be another Ultima Online because those games won't appeal to casuals.

I'm 40, born in 76. Cell phones, social media, and dating apps have completely fucking ruined dating and it is completely different now. 100% different.

Back then the only people that "hooked up" were maybe if you had a female friend in college, even then, the expectation on both sides was always that you'd keep hanging out to see where it might go. The entire concept of a hook up where there are no expectations (especially on the girls part) is totally new and it is horrible. It's bad because it means she will more easily disregard your feelings after you have put effort into getting with her.

It's good I guess for like 5% of guys that 1) can sleep with whoever they want and 2) want to. Many guys don't actually want to.

The entire hook up culture is mostly driven by women and it's a mind fuck to men because women have tricked men into thinking that they want this and they're the "players" creating hook up culture. This allows women to use men at any time they want without taking any responsibility for the degenracy and harm it causes, cause hey, who cares about a guys feelings?

It's super fucked up now and nobody is happy and everybody hates dating and it's completely not normal and there will be a massive backlash and slut shaming is going to come back big time.

MTV mostly played music videos and shows that had music videos in them. There was only one MTV channel. Internet was slow as shit. 90s fashion sucked and horrible slang that was also forgotten. Bill Clinton was President and a lot of poor decisions were made. Drive in dinners were dying out (before Sonic somewhat brought it back). The start of propaganda to make whites not fear blacks began in the 90s with Space Jam. I would say it was the start of the decline of culture and the birth of multi-cultural as leftest won the war against the right and center professors in Universities.

I think people got the idea of Y2K wrong, the world wasn't going to end but civilization would go on a decline going forward. Party like its 1999.

>I think people got the idea of Y2K wrong
As a software engineer, this is wrong. There really was a Y2K issue. All timestamps are calculated from Jan 1st, 1970, but the date was stored in two digits.
So, in 2000, the date would rollover to 00, confusing date parsing algorithms. Billions were spent to fix the date issue across countless systems. That's why it was a non-issue.
Had we not, all sorts of weird shit could have happened.

are we justified in feeling like today's society sucks ass and our lives are less meaningful? or are we just trying to make ourselves feel good, because we can never again capture the innocence of our youth?

this question plagues me. Is it possible to feel that innocence and happiness again? or am I just setting myself up for depression?

I just want no social media, hang out with my good friends, less time on the internet, more 'getting out in the world'. The last time I thought of a "good year" was 2012, when I graduated highschool. lol, after I split roasted a 14 year old at 16 with a buddy of mine word got out and we had girls coming over to "party" every Friday. This combined with no parents and a pizzashop-liquor store that would deliver boozes for a nice tip led to some wild times.

The accumulation of this was probably when I was interrupted dping a girl to 2 girls blow banging a dozen people in my living room while a guy high on coke ripped out my bathroom sink and tried to murder a guy getting a blow job with said sink. Which in turn led me, in boxers and full on erect, with a shotgun. Suddenly 20+ drunk teenagers are running out of my house at midnight.

There is a lot I'd like to write about and respond to, but what I'm most interested in writing about is the year... 2012.
It had marked a time after which things (i.e. Cars, Movies, Mainstream music and so on) were of a lower and more disappointing quality and what I think was the cause of this, is the world wide adoption of the smart phone.

As more Android phones were created at varying price points, this made the smart phone far more accessible to the masses more than ever before. And the worst part of the smart phones is not the social media part, but the underutilization of said devices. These are very capable computers in our pockets, but we just use them for taking pictures and viewing other peoples pictures!
>We are more educated than ever before
>We have the means to learn and discover more than ever before

And we use these abilities to touch a piece of glass all day.

>6' 4" and 220lbs
>professionally employed in a stable career you've had for over 20 years
>make over 120k a year
>are personable and keep track of popular trends for conversation fodder

Fun facts:

The 44 year old hates the car I drive. Its an economy car. I have to drive 100 miles to work everyday and its extremely easy on the gas. That's fine, when I'm out with her we drive in her Mercedes, and she usually pays for everything. If you find a woman like this, make SURE she is independent and preferably with some coin of her own. Don't fall into the " Help the damsel in distress" bait. It's common with women in this age group.

The 29 year old is a very practical woman. She is a single mother of 3, husband was killed by niggers in a botched robbery attempt while he stopped to fill up the family minivan. She needs a man, and I know that man isn't me, but I seem to fill a fatherly role in her children's lives, as well as I fill all of her holes just about every night. Win-Win scenario here.

The 22 year old is a challenge. She has a hint of redpill, but her friends influences on her are slowly beginning to take hold. She wants to being getting tattoos and all of her friends are dating spics and niggers and encouraging her to begin to do the same. After sex she really opens up, and she's been telling me about some of the fucked up situations and blind dates her friends have been getting her into. She doesn't want to fuck niggers, she said so in the same words, so I think she's redpilled at some basic level. I probably need to find her a guy her age at my office and introduce them, but she know how to ride the dick. It's a conundrum, for sure...

So yeah, for the tl;dr version, it's not hard to date at any age if you build your life in such a way to facilitate it.

Old fag here. Things in the 90s were great internet and phone calls were things you did at home and it didn't interfere with life like it does now. People had real hobbies then, they didn't need to constantly tweet or instagram shit they did. Real knowledge and research existed on forums and bbs along with thoughtful posts. People wrote in all caps.

Gas was cheap and the Japanese built some of the most reliable and beautiful cars then. TV was good, people forget how sharp the video quality was then because they watch interlaced shit on youtube. Cable boxes were plentiful and you can get all the channels, movies and porn for 15 bucks a month basic plan. Also you could channel surf, changing the channel was instantaneous. Digital photography is better but back then film and Polaroids were cheap, you got shit developed for cheap and you got 4x6 double prints and a free roll of film.

There was a lot of bad though, clothes for example, cheap shit wasn't that cheap and it fell apart, that went with most products back then, you think made in china is bad? Back then it was truly bad. At least todays shit works for a bit and if not it only cost a dollar from eBay.

Oh god eBay was terrible and good. Lots of rare shit for cheap back then but fucking money orders and checks. And good luck if the seller was fucking with you.

I could go on and on about bad and good but AMA for specifics.

I honestly feel like we're living in some sort of dying civilization. As if the generations that came before us killed the organism that provided us with life and now all there is left is a decaying corpse, but the corpse is still fresh so people are not noticing it yet. Our parents told us that things only got better since the 1960s, but if that is true why does society seem to unbearable? Why would the current condition seem to horrible to us if there wasn't some hunch, some distant memory that things had once been better? There is just something about the present that feels deeply deeply wrong and paradoxical, as if we're living in some bad alternative timeline. And if you even question that so called "fact", that live today is so much better than 50 or 100 years ago, people will go at your throat and call you a reactionary mad man. Everyone is telling me that we never had it as good as we have it today, but somehow I feel the very opposite, like there is something rotten at the very core of our social order and culture that is now reeking its ugly head that is about to devour us while were being told that everything is fine.

Does anyone else feel that way? This this feeling what attracts us to this god forsaken place?

Of course we are, buddy. Don't you see the continuity of liberalism?
>1517
>20 years of Father Luther's new doctrines gave rise to 40 new sects
>Christendom fractured into theological rivalry via theological liberalism, aka protestantism
>200 years later

>1717
>Masonic lodge founded in London based upon the egalitarian, Judaizing principles of Anabaptists and Jacobite/Whig revolutionaries
>Masonry quickly abandon Christian religious foundations and promote secularism and overthrow of authority, namely the authority of the Catholic Church and Monarchy
>(Judaizing) Masonry uses Protestantism as a weapon against the foundational principles of Christendom: Catholicism
>Secularism rises

>1789, French revolution
>Protestant private interpretation altered philosophy and manifested itself in political realm in the actual overthrow of altar and throne

What kind of father figure is that? You're a fucking loser.

having a lot of options on paper seems like a great thing, but there is nothing more oppressive than to many options. i've thought a lot about this and i've concluded modern society goes against human nature, we were never meant to live like this and instinctively we all know it. we look to the 90's with such love because back then everything was simple and people were happy, the digital age has brought us untold prosperity, and the most crushing loneliness. we have never been further away from each other than we are now, and we all hate it.
>>
>>133847290
1994 also. When did everything go to shit? I personally blame the great recession. Around 2010 there was suddenly crisis after crisis and around 2012 the internet userbase just grew and grew and suddenly everyone had a smartphone despite it being a luxury device back in 2009. Maybe the world really did end in 2012 and this is hell?

>the digital age has brought us untold prosperity, and the most crushing loneliness. we have never been further away from each other than we are now, and we all hate it.

This. I've never known true misery before I spend entire days on the internet. With the invention of the smartphone people could escape into the realm of information when ever they liked, even if they were out there surrounded with other people.

The connection and communication capabilities are unprecedented and yet we have never been more alone. The Internet was a mistake. It's nothing but trash.

Look at this picture. Something about it evokes childhood memories of a simpler time, when all there was was your couple of friends and the great scary unknown world outside, but that didn't matter as long as you had each other. But these days are gone and people spend more time writing whats app and facebook messages as opposed to actually talking to people. We're drowning in an ocean of endless conflicting information and a 24/7 spam of world news. Our brains didn't evolve for processing such huge quantities of information and as a result we've lost our humanity.

I was a /r9k/ tier virgin and also a hedonist who only wanted a girlfriend because I wanted sex. About 6 months ago I bought a collection of Goethe's poetry from the 1900s or 1910s and I've came across a poem about a young man who was about to drown himself in a river because his girl left him, but then a young women passes by and he explains his sorrow to her and the two of them fall in love. I've never seen something like that in contemporary culture and media. Pure unapologetic romance, no sex, no cynicism, no hedonism, just love. But I had to open a 100 year old book and read a 200 year old poem in order to finally understand love and romance. Everything is backwards.

Now I'm 28 with a great job but am the saddest I've ever been because I realize all that time was wasted hurting other people and now I have to have my share. Sex isn't everything. The girl turned out to be twice as ugly as imaged and her German skills were horrible (she was a south east asian shitskin). The date went alright and I told her that I would really like to see her again and that I would contact her soon. I never did. I had no feelings for her and I only wanted to use her as a cum dumpster and that plan seemed to work, but there was something wrong. Some voice inside my head telling me that what I was doing was wrong and evil and not even because I would use her like an object, no, it wasn't that. I felt like I would be dehumanizing and degrading myself by having sex with a person I had zero affection for. That's the only date I've ever been on.

Fliphones and beepers instead of smartphones.

There was internet but no youtube.

There was livejournal but people thought it was crazy to put your life up on the internet.

There was amazon but they mostly just sold books.

Instead of bittorrent to pirate you used Napster, AOL chatrooms, etc.

PC games often didn't work out of the box, you'd have to do all sorts of tweaks to get your processor/graphics card combination to work correctly. And you had to buy games at the store instead of on steam.

No GPSs, so learning to drive was a bigger pain.

Internet articles didn't have comments at the end so there was much less petty racist, sexist, SJW, etc. gibberish arguments on the internet.
>>
>>133850856
In and of itself it wasn't. The ideologies that came out of it was.
Humanism was reinterpreted outside of a Christian context and birthed a neo-pagan humanism; a secularism. There would have been no age of secular republics without the philosophical foundations, and there would have been no Renaissance without the theological foundations.
Without Luther, Henry VIII, Voltaire, Hobbes, Locke, Jefferson, and Paine, there would be no SJW.

internet was accessible only to higher class.

Internet was a decent place, where you could leave your computer open and download porn pictures without viruses.

MMO games were full of actual adults and kids behaved themselves.

Games were harder, but it was acceptable.

I really miss those days...

I've had two chicks go south recently. One blew me off to spend 600/1000 of her birthday cash and "almost get pregnant", the other is still pining over her meth head ex who dumped her for his other hos. He's in and out of prison constantly, after getting her arrested. Otherwise, the girls I've banged/had an interest in were all whores. Either whores, or stupid as fuck and messing around with complete scum bags who ruin their lives.

"JUDE" doesn't make sense, it implies there can be a singular Jew. Jews are all a part of a hivemind, there is no individual Jew, only unholy
flesh puppets of the hivemind.

Midwest, man. Rural, but the cities are 15 minutes away. And it's not "rural" by backwater standards. Just small town bullshit. My town in particular is full of Chads and Heathers/Catherines, rich preps, with the degenerate underbelly, which stems out into all surrounding towns, with varying degrees of niggertry. Some are absolute trash. But man, I haven't found ONE decent woman, EVER. The only one I did turned into a transqueer the minute she went to college.

>>
>>133852871

See my other post, but I grew up in the US, single father who would leave for weeks at a time when I was 14, pretty much on my own since 16. Drugs, underage prostitutes, stealing, ect. I ended up going to community college at 22 ish and just kept going until I got a PhD. I don't want to go back to that life, I just want to be a hippy living in a cottage in the middle of no where.

I have lived in absolute poverty, trying to get food from one day to the next. I was arrested, had guns pulled on me several times, house robbed and burgled several times. I worked 50+ hours a week while living with 5 room mates to save up enough to escape.

I was red pilled by the life I grew up in and got out of.

This. 85' and growing up there were always tons of boats out on the river, everyone seemed to be middle income, businesses were new and thriving. Now, the river is almost empty and those same businesses, 50% of them are gone, or have become hallowed out shells of their former glory. Women were sluts, but there was a lot of shame in it still. 9-11 took away a lot of our freedoms, Obama and the left brought forth the identity politics you see today.

"Curtain":
To dream of folk united in hand
Renders nights sleepless, in this conquered land
Our home, taken from us beneath our feet
Liars and thieves, tell us to retreat
Accept that the war has always been lost
Our traditions and values tossed aside
Where are the people, who fought and died
Where are their names, no plaque or honors,
for those who sacrificed their lives for truth?
Seth Rich, was his name
Exposing corruption was his game
He was shot in the streets, and even worse
The one responsible used his name in support of gun control
As you see, they haven't a single soul
A game of profit and power,
people left to scrap and devour,
what little remains upon their plate,
no meal ever seems to sate,
nothing can replace the people's ties,
once severed, culture dies
Unity extinguished, greed amuck
Degeneracy, blindness - wisemen dumbstruck
I cannot keep a tidy desk
I yearn to learn and fight for what's right
To spread truth in the age of lies and information
To ascend beyond the aforementioned
True sailing is dead
Where's the will to meet the dread-lined head
Where's the strength, spirit, fire?
Burned at the pyre?
Do you tire of wretched sheets, scarred hearts, and feet?
Hands broken in endless labor,
nothing reaped in what we sew.
Take back our country,
O I weep and shout,
While tainted w/ self-doubt, one thing is forever certain
The iron curtain kept out the dogs

I would be able to apply for citizenship at the end of my contract, it is really cozy up here. But I am American, and I miss the US.

I also don't want to live off welfare, and I want the government completely out of my business. In the middle of nowhere US, it is possible to live off <15,000 NOK a year.

malls movie theaters and arcades were a thing. Neon decked many hip places and was still around because of the 80s. People actually went outside and did shit and actually talked to each other because of no internet and no cell phones. More white people. People all watched the same movies and same shows because internet had no streaming services available yet and was in its infant stages. People all played the same video games and you had 3-4 games you really liked and played all the time. Now we have backlogs of games and movies we will never finish.

It was great because its all you knew and you were happy with it.
