They removed a confederate statue from St Louis a few weeks ago. The city initially was looking for funding to tear it down then the museum that owned it said they'd do it for free. City still refused and wanted to remove it themselves, presumably so they could put it where nobody would ever see it again, with taxpayers' money until museum threatened to sue. The museum plans to relocate it for public display.
