Basically by speaking up and refusing to be bullied. People are hesitant to be the first to speak up out of fear of being ostracized, and that means indoctrination goes unchallenged. People have a tendency to follow the group even when they feel it's wrong because they don't want to be the different voice. Speaking up will motivate others to not be bowled over so easily.
