There was a home appliance factory in my hometown, among the biggest in Yugoslavia. It used to export out and supply everyone's homes with heaters, washing machines ...

After communism collapsed it went bankrupt, the new government sold it for an extremely small amount of money to some entrepreneur. The dude immediately sold all of the machines, trucks, doors even windows , and left it looking like Chernobyl

The factory used to employ ~5000 now it employs zero. Efficiency at it's finest

Oh and did I manged that out of all 5 factories in my industrial city, 4 suffered that fate and only one barely survived because the state couldn't sell it ?
