NOTHING good will come from it.

If you're for a free market and against market regulations, it's not the FCC and Net Neutrality you need to look at, it's the ISP's buying vendor lockins with cities and governments preventing any other competition from taking place.

They are fucking over millions of people and then blame net neutrality for what they are doing.

Destroy the timewarner, cnn, et al. Don't let them get control of the internet.

ideally its the FCC doing the suing on behalf of every consumer. It has worked before with major ISPs blocking skype and VOIP and shit
>>
>>133448269
Listen, leaf, I think you're being too skeptical of this. I'm from Texas. Whenever there was a removal of regulation, things actually got better. Now, the thing here that leaves me uncertain is that these companies are using cables that actually belonged to the government, in addition to the cables they built themselves. So there's a question of whether government can control what is essentially a partial private business. And thats an issue we needed fixed for a very long time.

But there is some good that can come out of this as a consumer.

I deal with businessmen constantly. Not all of them are this gloom and bloom that most of you are saying they are. They know people will get upset if they have to pay more for something. And good business is still business.
>>
>>133448250

The infrastructure regulations that created the monopolies is a completely different issue than NN.

Please do not conflate them.
>>
>>133442817

Net Neutrality is pure bullshit, its actually the opposite as it gives the FCC purview over the entire internet and takes it out of the hands of the market.

You see, if my ISP blocked a website, which they've never done before, then I would raise hell and switch to another ISP. People would go nuts and cancel them, ISP would either lose alot of business and money or issue an apology and make a 180.

When the FCC, unelected bureaucrats decide to do whatever they want, it could take years for a suit to make it through the courts. There is no oversight. and then what happens when crazy bernie or some libtard gets in office and decides the internet is a cesspool and needs to be cleansed? It's simply a matter of stacking the FCC with good goys.

You fucking plebbit retards that are falling for this are completely insane, you'll let the Current Year Man twist your tiny brains into pretzels instead of stopping and thinking about it for 2 minutes.

>>
>>133448607
I'm well aware, but the NN is clearly big enough to constantly attack it every year, meaning companies want it gone for some substantial reason.
>>
>>133448485
>. Whenever there was a removal of regulation, things actually got better.
that happens when removing regulation promotes competition. This isn't going to do that. The major ISPs are separate entities in name only. If NN dies, it's handing the keys to the internet to a hyper greedy cyber cartel
>>
>It's an "I voted for this person therefore I will support every decision he makes regardless out of fanboyism no matter how bad it is" episode

>>133448700

>meaning companies want it gone for some substantial reason.

>>
>>133444377

>>
>>133448789
Then the next thing to do would be for the government or the FCC to create a new rule to balance it out. I'm not saying this is a good fix, but a fix in the direction of the consumer is always good.

The FCC Net Neutrality provisions never even went into effect. Nothing has happened, ever, that Net Neutrality would fix. It's a solution to a potential problem that has never occurred. In fact, it creates a major fucking problem by putting regulatory powers into the hands of unelected bureaucrats. At some point, and you can take this to the bank, they will impose regulations on ISPs. That's what bureaucracies do. It may be benign, it may fuck YOU over, or it could fuck over smaller competition for the major ISPs.

If you think that big business can't and won't lobby the 8 people who vote on shit in the FCC, you are fucking retarded. Ofc they want regulatory function in the hands of a few well greased palms. These businesses are not raising hell b/c they love you dumb faggots.
>>
>>133448606
>I deal with businessmen constantly
i don't mean "businessmen" in a broad sense. I mean large ISP fuckers. Yes some businesses are genuinely trying to provide as much value to you as they can for a fair fee. Everything i've ever seen from ISPs says they don't give a fuck.

Personal example:
>live in meh aprartment
>find out att is only ISP there
>hmm ok
>they only off 18 mb/s internet and basic tv for like 75/moth
>fucking god damn it
>move a few miles down the street
>comcast has 100 mb/s for 80
>local ISP has 1 gb/s for 95

the infrastructure for gigabit service is there, but the major ISPs would rather throttle you and maximize profit
>>
>internet raise prices cause a large sum of people are using it to stream and youtube and shit
>removal NN
>make those people now pay for access to these high traffic sites while I finally get to pay lower for not going to them

This only lowers prices for all of us. It won't go the way you guys are moaning it will.

They would never risk that. and if they did and kept pushing, we could lobby the government to step in. Handing over all the keys for a wild speculative potentiality that has never occurred is patently unwise.

They tried it in Britain with TPB and a host of torrent sites back in about 2012. Not all of the ISPs took part it was mainly the likes of Virgin who were mad as fuck that people were downloading songs that were on their label and cost them shekels.
Literally the same day Virgin blocked the sites mirrors popped up everywhere and the whole exercise was futile. That's why they never bothered enforcing it harder pretty much fucked it off. Virgin still block some sites though.

Yes, its all because Netflix eats up Comcast's bandwidth!

Oh wait, Netflix pays |their| ISP handsomely for serving all its data.

Comcast was paid by their consumers for that 1/3 in full.

Oh and the bandwidth argument is bullshit on its face because after netflix paid the protection money their quality of service increased within 24hrs.

Oh and Netflix offered to install free server boxes with all their movies on the backbone of any ISP that was having congestion issues.

Comcast refused.

>>
>>133450385
>and there has never been any evidence that any ISP has been purposely throttling netflix.

No, because Comcast hid behind the technical definition of "throttling". What in truth happened was that Comcast rated Netflix packets as low as possible in routing priority and so it went through shitty and inefficient routing paths through the net

>Muh proofs

See: The data collected by people who had Comcast + Netflix + VPN. They objectively showed that even with the detriment of a VPN connection: If your packets were hidden by way of encryption it still outperformed Netflix routing straight through Comcast.

There is no way that can happen unless:

A)Comcast has the most backwards QoS in existence
B) Comcast was dumping Netflix packets on the slow crappy back-roads of the network

The |fact| that Netflix service on Comcast improved within 24hrs. of paying Comcast their shake-down money proves that it is B.

Dismantling the NN rules is the definition of burning down the house to kill a few cockroaches.

The rules are in place RIGHT NOW and there is no problem but in 2014 before them Verizon and Comcast were doing all sorts of nasty shit like I was citing.
>>
>>133451372
Then this doesn't apply to you. They're surely not going to block content, they don't happen to own a content provider (like Verizon and Comcast do).

Lastly, he (Pai) pushes for a reevaluation of whether to maintain, modify, or eliminate the Title II Order bright-line rules[103] that prevent ISPs from blocking, throttling, or prioritizing certain websites.

>>

>rack space for their caches
No they didn't. Netflix wanted rack space, Comcast wanted them to pay through the front door.
>>
I don't really see the problem.
Why shouldn't you be able to pay for traffic prioritization?
We're not talking about the propagandized "5$ for the social media package" that will never happen. Its going to be $5 for last mile QoS prioritization e.g. you pay for 100mbps + priority, you get 100mbps even when your local server is under load.

NN was only ever supposed to exist between networks, I.e. Comcast networks still deliver packets that bounce through their network if both the start and end is in Time Warner network land.

>Comcast offered Netflix fair commercial terms for interconnect and rack space for their caches.

>"Hey Netflix you already pay for your ISP and our consumers already pay for us but we are willing to offer you FAIR RATE to pay us money that has already been paid by our subscribers and through the massive tax breaks the US Gov't gave us. YOU SHOULD STOP BEING UNREASONABLE'

That is the definition of a shake-down. Oh and again: Netflix offered to install all of their most bandwidth-hungry content on server boxes in Comcast ISP cores FOR FREE

FOR FUCKING FREE

and Comcast refused, because it was never really about congestion. The ISPs saw Netflix making waves against their cable offerings and saw an opportunity to shake them down, and idiots like you will let them get back to it.

Since you didn't call me a retard I will oblige. A service provider of any type provides the service with the things they own. Net neutrality tells a private ISP how it is permitted or not permitted to use its own property in its provision of services. Net neutrality prevents this by telling the ISP how it can and cannot use the things the ISP owns. If the ISP refuses to comply, the ISP faces criminal and civil actions which are always carried out under the threat of force. Therefore, net neutrality is a government action that threatens private citizens with violence over how they choose to dispose of their own property. I am a man who proposes never to force or be forced. Once you give the government the right to threaten others over their independent voluntary use of their own property, you too now suffer the fact that if your own independent voluntary use of your own private property becomes unpopular enough, you have ceded the governmet the right to force you by supporting net neutrality. My personal independence and hatred of compulsion drives my hatred of net neutrality.

It costs Comcast time and money to run those servers for Netflix, which is why they have standard contracts and terms for this type of deal, deals that they have with many others. Netflix refused and demanded that Comcast host their content for free, gaining no benefit from netflix’s Paying customers utilizing Comcast resources.

So Netflix couches this as a free speech issue and gets together with all of the other big content providers to strong arm the telcos in public and in Washington

And it worked fucking brilliantly
>>
>>133453250

You really don't get the depth of greed that the ISPs have do you? You can't if you see that as some massive obstacle and not another opportunity for them to quadruple dip

What they will do then is advertise that if you want encryption support you merely have to be a business tier subscriber and pay $50 extra per month for the new SECURE+ package.

Business that need encryption will buy it up in droves to avoid having to switch providers or move and it will stop the average 4chan poster from having access to it because business tier internet packages are already way too expensive for what they are (Despite shills in here claiming that Netflix is on some sort of bandwidth free-ride).

>ISPs start blocking 4chan
>ISPs can afford to block a top 100 site
Go fuck yourself shill.
>>
>>133454079
Come on, bud. It's not funny. It actually pisses me off that net neutrality was co-opted by the left when it's the most NatSoc position you can take.
>>
>>133453763
If Google's ISP initiative failed in its expansion plans due to red-tape and hamstrining by the old-guard ISPs, who the fuck do you think has the money and sway to do this in a large meaningful way?

Oh and in some places it is literally illegal to challenge the incumbent because of exclusive rights deals that local governments have signed with ISPs.

Thanks for playing.
>>
>>133452962
Thats a bit too general for me. If you gave me a bit more specificity of what that means exactly? Aren't ancaps against all forms of government? I do think the best way to measure the morality of government is to ensure that it extorts as little from its citizenry as possible but it seems to me that there are many proper governmental functions such as contract enforcement and interpretation, thought protection, and theft protection that properly belong online. Not sure if that answers your question but I do think it conveys my thoughts on the matter.

Are these the >words you had in mind?

It's fucking pathetic that Trumpfags are so desperate to cling to him now that they're unironically anti-net neutrality just because he is. Great job voting against your own interests you stupid fucks.

>Netflix refused and demanded that Comcast host their content for free

You are a paid anti-NN shill or an unpaid moron that doesn't understand the events you are speaking of.

Either way: You aren't worth the piss it would take to move my fingers in a reasoned response.

Fuck.Off.
>>
>>133454108
The argument is facile. Can you calculate what % of Comcast’s last mile network would be consumed by customers paying only Netflix, not Comcast, for the service? once you understand that, you will understand why Comcast has commercial deals with other high bandwidth companies like CDNs etc.
>>
THANK GOD
>>
>>133442817
Look at all you simple minded fools! All of you bitch about government and all want government. Fuck you! We are being raided by CNN and other powers that be and you fall for their marketing tactics. Fuck all you all! I will never give in to the government! Pussies!

how the fuck is this constitutionally justifiable?

How is it voting against our interests? The people here voted for him because they thought he would bring about an era of white nationalists or whatever. That can't happen when the members of your race are all fags that jack off to porn and watch cartoons all day, so what gives?

They would still be paying Comcast you idiot. What do you think "the service" is?

>once you understand that, you will understand why Comcast has commercial deals with other high bandwidth companies like CDNs etc.
What? This is exactly what Netflix wanted. Comcast didn't want to do it for Netflix because it decreases the perceived value of cable TV. Nothing about what Netflix did was wrong here, except for maybe selling out their customers for short term profits instead of calling out Comcast.
>>
>>133454466

It's pretty easy. You have your rep go to every apartment complex and sign a completely legal contract to provide the internet to that complex, then you do it on a neighborhood level, then a local government level. Then you go to the next town and do it again.

If we had a Congress that was interested in consumer protection it would be illegal and these giant ISPs would be broken up like Ma Bell.

But instead, we have Trump backing Pajeet as he makes a fucked up situation several leagues worse. But ya know, fuck dem liberal sissies supporting NN. *Shoots self in foot*

How is net neutrality not in your best interest?
>>
>>133454245
>Not sure if that answers your question
close enough. I understand why you're against gov telling private businesses what to do. In most cases i feel the same way, at least when it comes to how the operate internally. When it comes to the businesses relationship with the public, however, i find that at least a little gov intervention is needed. Without some minimum safeguards in place, consumers are easily exploited.
It seems akin to the gov not allowing companies to intentionally produce false advertising or lie on product labels.
>>
>>133454754
Ah so that makes it okay. If Shillary would have done it, then we're still not worse than her. That's what we should be aiming for, not worse than Hillary.
>>
>>133454588
If you think that what end users pay their ISPs is all the money that runs the internet, you are SORELY mistaken.
>>
>>133454508
This might shock you but your movement mostly just exists online. Guess how killing net neutrality would hurt that.
>>
>>133449797
you are thinking of a meshnet. this is a potential for 4chan, but needs a large number of operators and some of them would be nefarious, meaning you need to pay special attention to the connection and not get mtm'd. radio packet networks are another option if shit really hits the fan but it would be a mostly text based slow moving pain in the ass, not to mention FCC fines. With all of the aforementioned, you can avoid FCC detection somewhat if you transmit in the same air as over the air HD television. This is high density traffic that will not be interrupted by a slow moving image board. Don't broadcast too powerfully and set up some proprietary encoding/decoding based off something freely out there. The idea is security through obscurity
>>
>ISPs start blocking 4chan
Good. Then maybe we'd be less filled with you FUCKING NORMIES GET OUT OF MY BOARD REEEEEE
>>
>>133454953

I know I said I was out but you are so blatant with you skullduggery I can't help but hit you on this one:

>you think that what end users pay their ISPs is all the money that runs the internet

You are correct, 100% without a doubt correct.
Especially about the MASSIVE government tax breaks and subsidies given to the ISPs to build out robust networks that would not need them to have to shake-down companies like Netflix but instead to be ahead of the curb.

Why don't you mention that money specifically?

Oh yeah, because Comcast and other big ISPs are pocketing much of that money and instead of barely meeting their buildout requirements and in the case of Verizon just plain old fashion not meeting them at all.

But I guess that money isn't worth mentioning.

Since you made the assertion that net neutrality is in my interest, I need you to prove that you know or even have a way of knowing what my interests are. I personally posit that the determination of ones interest is the oldest monopoly because we are integrated thinking beings. However if you can show me a standard by which you can judge the interests if others, I long to hear it. And if you cannot, it is incumbent on you as a thinking being to change your fallacious opinion and desist from telling others what their interests are.

We might as well be categorised and placed in to jobs based on social status that the government sees fit. After all, the government knows what's best for you.
>>
>>133454953
No shit. What I don't get is why you think it's in everyone's best interest to have ISPs grow instead of having them be mere arms of established content providers like MSNBC.
>>
>>133454804
>>133455094
Oh no! God forbid society is forced to stop jerking off and sharing photos of their food everyday and actually have to resort to going outside, meeting people, and being socially healthy! That'd be really bad, now wouldn't it?
>>
>>133442817
Hillary would have saved net neutrality? You are fucking delusional. these are the people who gave the NSA power to collect meta data on every living sentient being on the planet, unmasked who ever the fuck they wanted and married the MSM to the CIA and deep state bureaucracy shadow government.

But yeah, Hillshill was all about protecting your right to whine on 4chan
>>
>>133455420
Net neutrality is analogous to the freedom you have to choose your own career. What you're thinking about is perpetrated by the corporations, who want people to pay for exactly their content.
>>
>>133455420
Sure, instead let's just have a handful of corporations control everything you do instead of having laws that limit their powers and protect citizens. Libertarians are too dumb to live.

When I think about this line of thought, I always find myself asking who exactly is the public? Why is a consumer more a member of the public than a producer and thus entitled to more protection? We need no laws telling the public which sites they can use or cannot. Is googles share of web traffic not close to a monopoly? Then by the same logic of net neutrality should the government not limit the amount of time the consumer spends on google thus to protect the public producer? I'm the case of fraud, there is a proper identifiable wrong committed. Why then do supporters of net neutrality think it justifiable to treat the provision of internet services in the same way they treat fraud? Is the provision of services as evil as defrauding? Should we fine the pizza man for delivering papa johns and not dominos? This is what is deadly about net neutrality support. Loudly proclaimed opinions with no rational thought to support it.
>>
>>133455920
>When I think about this line of thought, I always find myself asking who exactly is the public?
People like you and your loved ones.

>Why is a consumer more a member of the public than a producer and thus entitled to more protection?
Common decency. You're essentially arguing that the pizza delivery man should have the right to spit in your pizza if you don't pay him an extra $5.

>Is googles share of web traffic not close to a monopoly?
Anti-net neutrality would make the googles of the world the only sources of content, so you should be pro-net neutrality.

>Then by the same logic of net neutrality should the government not limit the amount of time the consumer spends on google thus to protect the public producer?
No, hence "neutrality." What net neutrality proponents want is an end to the bullshit money grabs and fairness to all.

>Should we fine the pizza man for delivering papa johns and not dominos?
Sure, if he were the only pizza man in town, made agreements with the government to remain so, and was financially connected to certain pizza chains.
