What I think is that it was not malicious intent like to grab new land back then in 1939 when Soviets invade Baltic states. It was more than just that, it was a big game or pre-war preparations, whatever, the point was that if that was not Soviet Union that took Baltics then nazis would do it and use it as foothold to invade SovietUnion. Ultimately, we would still invade Baltics, it would probably cost us and allies two-three of war but we would come there as Liberators and who knows how history would turn out then.
