In the latest season of House of Cards, Frank Underwood was accused of setting up a pay to play scheme with China.
He set it up while VP and leaked it to the press to get the former President to resign so he can take over.
The former President testified to congress and said he was behind the scheme all along.
He then resigns in the most badass way possible by admitting to his corrupt behavior and calling out members of the senate committee investigating the affair.
Well it makes more sense if you watch it.

Like Frank Underwood,
Trump could then let his VP, Pence takeover while he works behind the scene and essentially have a say in how things are run.
