Heavy immigration is the reason we've been so successful in such a short amount of time. Considering in the late 1700's we had barely a million or so pops, by the 1900's we increased to over a hundred million. That explosive population growth is in due part to massive immigration waves, and had they'd never occurred we'd never have the economy we do today.

What's important is that immigration policies reflect our desire for new American citizens, not people who are here just to send their money back home. Those are parasites. Money earned here should be spent here.

Disgusting, no. The threads on /pol/ of your average "kekistani" are a great example as to why. We need to make a new movement less about what a bunch of white Nazi-LARPers think is funny, but rather a movement that encompasses a unified America during a time of so much divisiveness.

How many times have you run across someone that says they don't give a shit about American politics because they feel like their vote doesn't matter? They aren't wrong. It doesn't, most of the time. America has some of the lowest voter turnouts in the western world, and that disenfranchisement is a serious problem.

Even the average "kekistani" mocks the political process by creating some fake nation with Nazi-symbolism to trick Normies. This, in of itself, is a form of feeling disenfranchised. These memers have actually put THAT much time, effort, and dedication into a fake political movement than a real one.

Shouldn't that energy be best spent on things that matter?

That's my point in posting this thread though. I'm interested in what you'd think.

The Confederate Flag is just one of those tumultuous issues that I see where a symbol is propped up as "southern pride", when it's undeniably seated in a history of racism. Southern pride is certainly a good thing, as Southern culture is a distinct subset in American culture. Shouldn't that sense of "Southern pride" be more inclusive though? As someone who frequently visits New Orleans, a cosmopolitan city within the heart of the south, you realize pretty quickly that there are many who enjoy Southern living -- regardless of their race.

I've argued before that Southern pride should adopt a new symbol, which if they wanted could be reminiscent of the Confederacy, but distinctly anti-slavery. It's odd to me that Southern pride advocates of today say they don't see it as a racist symbol, but then fly a flag that was literally fought in the name of keeping slavery.

Outside of that, you have those who see the battle flag in a sense of "tradition", but I think people are just afraid to move on. People would rather create a divided community for the sake of a flag, and any person who holds true Southern pride wouldn't be so stuck on that fact.

The truth is that America, regardless of where you are, is never going to be a "white master race" country. You'd have to remove over a hundred million people, and several generations of history in America that propagated the idea of America being the land where one can "pursue happiness". Symbols that try to push white nationality will never fly in America as we know it today, the country that trumped Nazi Germany. It's like trying to form a Commie party, that would never fly either.

Repackage National Socialism in a family-friendly package though? Maybe we have something to work with here.

You aren't wrong about our natural resource base, but what's the point if we become lazy and fat disappointments? It's like we're the Roman Empire in its decline, where we're more interested in the next product in a line of smartphones than we are with the destruction of western values across our nation. Safe spaces, the complete lack of physical education, the encouragement of "healthy at every size", and the basic restrictions of free speech while disenfranchising people who really DO need help --- these are all self-destructive social policies.

Let me ask you this as well. How many people on here, including yourself, genuinely feel like you have no purpose in life other than your own selfish desires? Sure, you might make a company some money or entertain your circle of friends, but what sort of impact do you ACTUALLY make on this world before you expire?

Maybe you're a very small group of people where you might actually be remembered, but the average person in America only cares about making money to survive, then to live comfortably, then to live lavishly.

It's disgusting and needs to change.

If you can't understand the fundamental problems with using a flag of the confederacy to represent modern southern pride that notably has no slavery present, then I'm not going to waste anymore time on explaining myself.

Southern pride is a good thing, it just has a really poor argument behind the whole "it's not racist!" thing. If you believe in whites ruling blacks and want to be your own separate country to do that, then by all means fly a confederate flag everywhere in your private space.

I don't mind though, I don't want this thread to be sidetracked by a relatively pointless Confederate flag debate.

I only brought it up to illustrate that it is one of the many things that divide our country racially. A new movement needs to base its divides on political differences, not racial ones.
