First of all, China has terrible relations with western countries. They frequently aid some of their closest enemies such as North Korea and their alliances are frankly horrendous sharing no common military alliances. Second of all, America could've easily obliterated the communists situated in the north after world war 2 with their post-war economy and superior military, it would not be an issue and it would save them the trouble of two wars in the future.

Dr.sun yat-sen was a socialist but the leader of the ROC during the chinese civil war was an authoritarian capitalist called Chiang Kai Shek. Chiang Kai Shek didn't just suceeded. He has effectively launched a coup against the government, both the Kuomintang and the Communists, similarly to Pinochet or Franco.

When the communists won the Civil War (which happened because a tremendous amounts of nationalist soldiers simply defected), they were supported not just by every other Chinese political party, but by the Kuomintang itself too, including Song Chinling, the widow of the Sun Yatsen, and the last leader of mainland nationalist China, Li Zongren.

The civil war, as well as Chinese weakness before the WWII is on his own hands alone.

And how exactly did the civil war end? I will remind you. Nationalist generals have arrested Chang Kaishek and handed him over to the communists, who forced him to join the United Front to resist the Japanese.

If not for the invasion, perhaps, they would have simply killed him, struck a deal with the generals and swept through China.

I'm sure an army of 12 million technologically superior soldiers belonging to the number 1 world superpower of the time could've easily overpowered communist and soviet troops with or without the support of the chinese peasents or politicians. In fact, many ROC politicians were still loyal to the party. Also, the fact remains that the communists weren't completely overpowering the ROC, the edge belonged to the communists after the war but the edge wasn't that overpowering.
