I've been toying with the idea of buying a Bugout Bag sometime soon. What's there to know, and what's the best shop? I know Infowars sells that kinda shit but unless someone shows me otherwise I'm not interested.

Looked at these guys, for instance:https://echo-sigma.com/

Bug out to where? Stop larping mad max end of the world scenarios. Anyway go to /k/ or /out for that.
>>
Bug-out bags are fantasy escapism. Where are you going to "bug out" to? You need to have a plan and then buy to accomodate that. If you're asking other people what you need then you're buying toys, not survival gear.
>>
>>133193469
get shelter, water purification, food, and a sleep system, then build your bag around that.

also, this isn't really /pol/ related. Take it to >>>k or >>>out

Meme tier unless you live in a city or around a city.

If you want a quick and cheap BOB just buy a burlap sack and get a rope, put in med supplies, food, and water. You're better off making your own than buying "professional" tier ones.

You're also better of asking /k/.
>>

Get some shit from infowars like the electrolyte supplement (unless there is fruit and salt available al year round) then tailor another product to your age from the infowars store.

Then go to /k/ and ask same question there. I have a bunch of different camping gear I could use for different circumstance.

Amazon is great. Just mimick the countless lists online and add or subtract based on your climate. Local animal knowledge and edible plants and mushrooms is also key.
>>
>>133194284
This, and get a bag that doesn't scream military or survival at the top of its lungs. All that molle shit just adds weight, and draws attention. Just get a plain looking bag with subdued colors and no reflectors. You want to blend in as much as possible while your trying to get out.

ask k and out like he said
>>

You only need it in an urban environment, and even then only if you're a retard don't leave the minute you hear that freight trucks won't come anymore.

If you're not an urbanite, you should organize with your community to barricade the highways and defend your neighbors from the inevitable rapacious swarm of hungry niggers, instead of running into the woods like a coward.

Your best bet would be to coast gun shows and army surplus stores. The rest can be filled in with a quick trip to Bass Pro or some similar outdoor supply store.

Make sure to pack a small fishing kit, a roll of twine, a roll of duct tape, 100 antibiotic tablets, water filtration, a side-arm and a rifle or smg(preferably with the side and primary in the same caliber for efficiency of packing), 200 rounds of ammo, and a few buckets of dehydrated food(can find on amazon).

also a small propane stove, extra propane, and a few dozen plastic lighters(these make good trade items and don't take up alot of space). A good camp knife, hatchet, and machete, with a whet stone(learn how to use it) to sharpen them with.

Not a bag, but it can be carried and used to set up hard shelter somewhere outside of the major population centers. Shouldn't cost more than $1500 USD.

Happy hunting there camper.

fuck that OP just get some bottled water, some nonperishable food, a few other basic things and stuff them in a cheap backpack
having those things on-hand will be 10x more relevant and useful than pissing away money on some 1000 cordura tactical bullshit
hell you can waterproof your own pack cheaply
there are other options like a damn ALICE pack with or without the frame, old or new that are much better buys
those pro packs cater to gear faggots with too much money on their hands

It stays in your vehicle at all times, and includes a pistol.

Keep a record/photos of all you purchases in the event it is stolen.

Good idea, but shit's heavy beyond a quick drink when shit gets rough.

I might light to suggest one of many portable water filters, perhaps one built in to a sports bottle even, so you can get more water wherever you might find it. If you try backpacking, you'll soon discover that you chose your routes based on access to water.

I've found my water bottles to be very useful just on lazy family vacations where people underestimate hydration needs. Plus when they still don't figure it out, you can be the one carrying 6gal of water on your back because you know they're being dumb, refill it all any time you please, and you can just dump it in to the filter bottle as needed.

And as for MREs when I was in college my friends bought a box of those and maybe made it 1/10 of the way through before dropping it like more of a rock than I assume their shits were. But I guess maybe they're reasonable as a last resort to keep going per military thinking.

What use is the bag without a goal in mind?

I have enough supplies at my residence to let me survive in place for a couple of months; but on one tank of gas, I can reach some property I own that looks like an abandoned failed ranch. It took a lot of effort to keep it looking that way.

I've got a couple of years worth of supplies there, and the whole thing is set up so that you can't tell there is anything of value there from the road.

For my bugout kit; I just have enough supplies to make it there on foot if I have to; and enough stabilized gas in cans to go twice the distance to the "ranch" if I am going to drive.

>Good luck in the event of food trucks not coming....
>Where are the men?

Remember hurricane Sandy that hit New York City and the eastern coast several years ago? There are people in urban areas that don't even have a pantry.
They grocery shop every day, or other day after work and don't have any food stocked up.
I grew up in a big family so even though we were suburban we always had several days worth of food easily and a portable generator to keep the freezer/fridge cool. Not prepared by any realistic measure but there are people that will be lost within 18 hours.
>>
Most people fill them full of camping supplies and food..... they are really building refugee bags. I suppose it will help keep them comfortable for those few days/weeks before they get rounded up/give up and end up in the refugee camp.
>>
>>133199804
I worked in Baltimore (unfortunately) for six months. After that enlightening experience I stocked up, and practice at the range every weekend. It would take less than 24 hours for a state to look like Baltimore x10 without power.
>>
>>133198898
I have enough of that inside my house. Again, what's the point of a bugout bag when I'm in an area that would be in the first 50 targeted nukes? Unless someone can enlighten me as to a different reason you would abandon your shelter with nothing but a small backpack of supplies? Flooding? Hurricanes? Doesn't happen where I live. Sheltering in place is superior in most circumstances. It's more realistic to have a bugout closet in your house that you keep fresh water, water filtration systems, canned or preserved food, and other medical supplies. Keep your guns and ammo ready of course, monitor every point of entry. Anyone with children under 12 or a wife probably can't realistically "bugout" either. Not that applies to anyone here.
>>
>>133199527
A tablespoon of bleach in five gallons of water won't hurt you if used as a temporary measure until you get proper purification.
Unlike the Giardia, Cholera and Typhoid that the bleach kills. That shit will mess you up right now, for sure, if you drink it once.
>>
>>133200058
Sandy was pretty impressive. I had multiple sources sending me day to day reports. I know the area a bit but I was honestly surprised at how well it held together.

Baltimore? Yeah, nah. Just driving through that place before they all wake up makes me uncomfortable.

Sheltering in place may not be an option for some. I only carry one in the event I am far from home in the event of the unexpected happening.

It's enough to get by for a few days, and includes a pistol, of course.

Obviously there in no preparing for nukes.

This is probably the most likely situation I think. It won't be like a Mad Max movie, it will be like living in a third world country with no way of knowing when life will stop sucking and go back to normal again. I've been meaning to get Fernando Ferfal Aguirre's economic collapse in Argentina book too. It describes more things like this, though the Bosnia experience sounds worse.

A bugout bag is really just a temporary thing to get you from point A to point B, wherever your second location is that has food, water, etc. If you don't have to leave, the better option is to bug in where you've already got shelter, water, and food. Still, you should be ready for either situation.

>>133199804
Oh boy, I can attest to this. I had been trying to convince my family to keep a well-stocked pantry before Sandy hit, and they still haven't fully gotten on board, but they now keep more than they used to.

Fire, come on buddy. Drag 'em on the asphalt. Pile on crap that burns better than human flesh (most garbage), pour on some old motor oil you haven't paid to get recycled yet, and get it started with some siphoned gasoline.
Hell, a pile of charred bone in the street will probably convince people to look for easier pickings.

It's not to hunt deer in the woods retard it's to survive should society break down. This includes supplies, utilities and a gun with some ammo to kill any faggot that thinks they can kill you to take your resources. A bug out bag is literally a "shit had hit the fan and I need to escape" option, not a "shits hit the fan time to go live off the grid lol" option.

nah you just go down to the local water treatment plant to ask them how much chlorine and how much ammonia they put in the drinking water

Not necessarily a bug out bag but Medicine, medicine, medicine. Over the counter pain relievers tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, aleve, lots of Benadryl (it has so many off label uses) antifungals, stomach aids, such as anti-diarrhea, antibiotics (start keeping any leftover prescriptions that do not get fully used, they are good even years after the expiration date) glucose tabs for low blood sugar, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, antibiotic ointments, etc. if SHTF ever truly hits the fan, these items will be in high supply especially after stores and pharmacies have been cleaned out. Some of these items can mean the difference between life or death.

Even if you use a rucksack, your only gonna have so much room to store stuff. Assuming you don't want 100 pounds on your bag added to gear, you need to be picky.
Bullets. Water. One day worth of food minimum, no more then three. and a warm blanket.
Pack that. Depending on the weight and what your comfortable with, add batteries, 550 cord, red lens headlamp, extra socks, depending on weather in your area pack some form of cold weather gear.
It might not be viable in the situation your planning for but consider a portable solar panel to charge phones, laptop w/e.
>>
>>133193469

I have a 5.11 72-hour pack and also the 5.11 sling pack. They are perfect for 1 - 2 week long trips as it has a ridiculous amount of compartments and more storage capacity than most backpacking bags. Plus you don't look like an idiot tourist.

The only downsides are that the back is a non-breathable material, and can sweat quite a bit. The sling pack is perfect for day trips. They have discount periods where you can get it for up to 40 percent off from 511tactical.com.

Best traveling investment I've ever purchased.

I tried a small amount of 5.11 and found it to be restrictive and uncomfortable like most of the cartright stuff. And it always looks uncomfortable on LEO types.

Goku might as well wear my immitation BDUs and and they stand up to abuse. Tops are a little more complicated but BDU tops make decent jackets.
>>
What's the point of bugging out?
If you can't even live in your own home where the hell are you going to get food from?
You have lived in your house all your life and somehow you think a backpack full of various gear is going to magically turn you into a survivalist who can live off nothing but the land?

Where are you going to go? Without clean water and food how long do you think you are going to last?
Real life isn't a zombie apocalypse video game where you collect coca-cola and bandages.
>>
>>133206571

Will have to disagree when it comes to the sling pack and 72 hour pack. I have carried over 100 pounds of gear with this system and it distributed the weight excellently with the yoke system and waist strap. I've seen no wear even with outrageously heavy loads aside from the rubberized points being smoothed out over time. They are built with incredible quality.

Their molle pouch extensions are excellent as well.
>>
common mistakes people make is that they confuse bug out bags with survival bags. no, youre not going to go live in the bush when SHTF, thats stupid and unrealistic. (unless youre a skilled survivalist). for example this guy has his stuff geared towards living in the bush:
>>133198393
this dude thinks hes gunna run in the bush and hunt and catch fish to live. yeah good luck.

but really, the BOB is not for living in a bush. its for being ready when SHTF. what you need to do is brainstorm the possible scenarios that can happen to you in your location. for example, a natural disaster, civil war, house fire, etc. then tailor your items to fit those scenarios. some cases, it may be better to stay at your house and stock up on food and supplies. you should only leave your house when you are forced to
>>
>>133206703
A very small percentage have thought that through.
>>
>>133206863
Maybe I'll have a second look. I carry maybe 75lbs in a $5 walmart bag (back when they were $5) and pants are second only to underwear in how much they piss me off when they get in the way or don't keep me breathy and comfy including how my bits and pieces ride.

But straps indeed would be worth a look, since it's not much fun if it starts cutting in to your shoulder arteries.

> Doesn't comprehend that a bugout bag is full of survival gear.

I have fire starter, water filtration, emergency blankets, chem/flash lights, 3L camel back, high calorie density foods like nuts, and of course over 500 rounds for my m4.

If it were the apocalypse, the only really important survival gear would be a gun, then you could acquire all the survival gear that everyone else was dumb enough to collect and not protect.
>>
>>133193469
that shit is way overpriced.

also its not a bugout bag, its just a get home bag. Which means its literally meant to get you home from work or school to then grab your bugout bag.
Also, dont buy a military style bugout bag. google b.o.b. gray man and you will get all the reasons why a military style bag is a super dumb idea.
>>
>>133207272
Ok so you have enough food for what like a couple weeks if that?
So your master plan is to become a thug and rob everyone else of their gear?
How long do you think that will last until those supplies run out or you get your head blown off, stabbed, etc...?

Reminds me of that picture where the black people stole everything until there was nothing left to steal and then had to hunt rats for food because there was literally nothing else to steal.

Sounds like you have played one too many survival video games designed around killing and looting.

>>
>>133208222

>>
>>133208222
It won't matter. Do you even know how many fucking people there are in this country or how much food they go through in a day?
Everyone except elites with connections or shelters with 2+ years worth of rations are going to starve. Even then they would be working full time on a food and infrastructure solution after they outlive all the retards looting, killing each other, and starving to death.

Even after you turn to dogfood and cannibalism it's only temporary because the majority of deaths are going to happen around the same window of time. What the hell are you going to eat after that? The first thing people will do in a crisis like that is raid and pillage any infrastructure they see for a quick meal.

Your master plan is to secure a one way ticket to hell so you can live a few extra miserable months fucking people over if you somehow manage to survive every encounter.

You should be building it based on the likely disasters in your area.

The food bag is actually pic related.

To be fair though, most shit doesn't last more than a few days. If it does then you probably won't have too much trouble getting food from either government aid, hunting or even just shops that are still open.

Again though, it matters what kind of disaster you're likely to get in your area. Some stuff like floods might keep you away from home for weeks at a time, and the normal "bug out" food sources that people talk about won't be too available either.
>>
>>133211663

I could scoot out innawoods at some point, but I'd rather stay home as long as the water lasts. Some people don't know this but the Mormons sell frieze dried food that lasts for a few decades on the cheap because it's part of their doctrine to keep a bunch of it on hand.

There is no bug-out bag that will keep you alive if you are a gigantic vagina beta fuck waiting for the end times to live. However, there are bug-out bag scenarios for which you can prepare. Note that you can always pack your own and there are many sites which will detail those. I recommend just a disaster bag, not 'end of the world' survival shit. I keep certain things nearby and I have a high-risk contract in a high-risk country, so I will share my own:

Bug-out bag 1: Flee the country

Passports (report your passport lost, get a second passport, tell nobody and use the invalid passport for non-electronic border checks and transportation inspections until you can secure a true second passport). Currency maximum in USD if possible (currently 10k). Traveler's checks that are denominated in EUR and registered in an alias name for which you have procured ID, but have not yet been signed (hidden between layers of your bag's material but accessible in case detected). If you will exit overland into Mexico, dress in desert and outdoor survival gear befitting a clueless but prepared suburbanite hiker (don't LARP like a LRRP, just pretend you're lost in case of border patrols... no camo and tac gear, go nuts with REI shit). Pack efficiently. One formal outfit, a few flexible shirts and pants, swimwear, one pair jeans, decent shoes and athletic shoes both (wear hikers while travelling), cold-weather jacket and fill weight/space with optional clothes, 5 pair socks and underwear. Wasp spray if pepper spray is illegal where you are going (it usually is). You will be all carry-on and hopefully not flying until a least 2 borders from the USA, so you will eventually lose the wasp spray. If you are foot-crossing away from border checks, fire implements, water and food, tick and mosquito repellent, a first-aid mini-kit, with tweezers and a sewing kit with fine-test fishing line.

Prepare for fuckery, not for WW3.
>>
>>133212981
>5 pair socks and underwear
So much this. And it doesn't take much soap or detergent to wash them up if you have a water source. If you don't have a water source by then you won't care anyway.
>>
>>133212981
Jew detected.
>>
>>133212981

This is actually pretty solid advice. REI is better than Ranger Joe's because the military packs with the concept of entire brigades of support personnel.

If you have a go-bag for backpacking then you have the core essentials to "Bug Out" which really should ultimately be travelling somewhere and not just planning to go live innawoods. That shit is not sustainable and you will be extremely vulnerable wandering around like an idiot with all your kit. with the most likely outcome that you hear a pop one day and then the world fades to black.
