What do they think of Milton Friedman. For me it is a great economist

I don't think that you should idolize economists. An economists job is

1. Construct models/theories

2. Test those models

You should always be evidence based. Does the models hold up in these situations? etc. That's the only thing that matters.

That being said... Friedman certainly made a lot of big contributions to economics.

I read a book called shock doctrine by naiomi klein which went into detail about what a supervillian POS Friedman was.
So I looked him up afterwards and realized I was duped by the book.
He's literally the catalyst for me going from a socialist to rightwing.

No it's not. It can sometimes be hard yes but far from 'utterly ridiculous'. Thing is that if you won't test your models/theories against the real world you're doing philosophy not science.

There's a lot of that - when you make up models... but then you have to test them and that's a continues process. Otherwise you're not doing science.
