I wouldn't describe myself as a Minarchist but many familiar w/ Libertarianism would and I'm OK w/ that.
In reality my Political views are constantly changing as I'm exposed to new info: 8 years ago I helped a Socialist get elected to Federal Parliament, today I'm a "Minarchrist" things change.
To answer your question w/o going into details, I'm a minarchist because I believe a state w/o a central functioning body wouldn't work out as predicted by some of our most thoughtful of Libertarians have said. I think a Central Governing Body that legislates based upon a minimalist constitution based on the NAP would be the next most moral form of Government after pure Anarchistic Libertariansism but would actually have a shot at being successful.

In order to be a minarchist, one has to be proficient in the ways of doublethink. They believe that the state is violating rights, but they also think that the state is required to protect rights.

I'm an ancap because society is spiraling out of control due to forced association and I don't think a government is capable of solving the situation.

Private property and decentralization does a much better job.

They believe the state creates property rights instead of being a mere (and faulty) enforcement agency that can be replaced. The idea of property rights being a construct of government is their main defining trait.

Minarchists generally are those who either don't believe in natural rights or for some reason believe that security is an exception to market laws and can only be provided monopolistically.

In my personal opinion they're uninformed and many would change their views if they knew the specifics of how could/would/has a non-monopoly work/ed in private property enforcement. At least that's what worked on me.
