Lets consider robot/android:
> COsts the same as avarage car right now
> Can do mundane physicial jobs like peeling potatoes, digging hole using shovel etc. Have all motor skills of human. Not exactly equal to someone that is experienced professional, like carpenter with 20 years experience, but more like raterded intern. Some more bulkier models have pure physical strength exceeding that of humans.
>Have intelligence of autistic 5 year old - you woudl not talk with it about philosophy etc, but it can take orders, do some small talk about weather, tell you some info from internet.
>To avoid uncally valley it doesnt tries to 100% mimic human facial features but goes for more robotic/mechanical looks instead
>Can be optionally equipped with fleshligh between his/her legs
So, i assume that we are about 25 years from when these robots will emerge. Am i right?
And most important question. How will all of this affect our society?
bump
robots become as gods
sounds like what we used to have with black people

You should read Caves of Steel By Asimov
>>132968842
Id rather take augments
>>132968842
consider the following: there's no reason to make sentient robots over transforming humans into inorganic lifeform
>>132970051
How woudl augments help you to compete with robots?
You woudl still require paycheck, while someone can ust buy robots and use its labor infinitely.
You woudl also probably require costly maintanence by specialized doctor-engineers. Imagine your body falling apart because you coudl not aford visit. I bet human-machine hybrid is much more complicated that just android.

There is - robots are much less complicated that some kind walking life support system for brain - cyborg.

bu the way, thare is 2015 ghost in the shell anime movie. There is one harcter that has obsolete cyborg parts that are no longer mantained and suppoted by cybernetics industry.
Guy is slowly falling apart, unable to work anymore. When he uncovered his shirt you coudl see his makeshit repairs to internal life support systems.
