It's a land of desert. It's never not been a drought.

Their population boomed, they didn't increase their food production, and now they are performing jihad to gather resources for their surplus population. Only this time, Europeans surrendered their resources without a fight.

You're buying into a meme, mate. A country of desert is never not a drought. The only thing that changed is the backbone of Western politics and media.

>Because Climate Change made parts of rural Syria non-arrable
>So?
>So Sunni farmers had to move into the city
>So?
>So when Sunnis move into the majority Shiite areas they come into conflict.
>Why?
>Huh?
>Why do they come into conflict?
>...Because they have to live near each other.
>So?
>So they come into conflict.
>So what's that got to do with Climate Change?
>Well...Climate Change means they have to live together
>So?
>So...When Sunni and Shiite people live next to each other they have conflict
>But why?
>Because of their religious differences.
>...So it's religious differences that cause terrorism, not Climate Change?
>No! Religion is not the point.
>Seems like it is
>Even if it is, Climate Change is the BIGGER problem that caused it
>Seems like overpopulation and migration might be
>No, there is enough room for everyone if we share the resources
>But won't we will each other if we have to share, because of religion?
>We don't have to be religious
>So religion IS the problem?

and so on and so on.

It's a minor factor.

As a factor it brought different groups into contact with each other.

The ideology of these groups was a bigger factor.

When there is a Tsunami and various different Japanese people have to live in closer proximity to other Japanese people it doesn't lead to terrorism.

Because they aren't Low I.Q. Arabs and Muslims.

It's like saying a woman who breaks down in a ghetto and gets raped and murdered died from a car break down.

I mean, sure, yes, it was a factor. But not the deciding factor.

>>
>>132961162
This dude just said he was gunna rule france like saturn.

Macron has MKUltra written all over him.
>>
>>132970864

Also, while I understand the logic - It's simply not true in Syria, because the motivating factors have existed since the 1950's. A drought may have been a contributing factor to making it EASIER or more likely, but it's far down the list of actual causes.

It's like how violent crime increases in summer in urban environments because of a higher likeliehood of people coming into contact with each other.

Meanwhile, if the people coming into contact with each other aren't drunk, violent, drug addicted, low I.Q. criminals, their chance of becoming involved in crime is much lower regardless.

A drought in Australia does not cause terrorism - because Australians aren't terrorists, so putting them closer together and putting them under strain doesn't cause them to blow each other up at higher rates.
>>
>>132968161
Because they haven't been decapitating, stoning, toturing and bombing each other for the past decades.

The surge of Islam had some catalytic factors. No one is denying that. But firstly, climate is definitely none of them and secondly the primary reason is still people in the middle east being fucking savages for the most part.

Pulling climate into this is on the same level as claiming 'our' bombing of their homelands is the reason for islamic terror.
>>
>>132972974

I mean, I don't know what Macron and other globalists are thinking;

>CLIMATE CHANGE FORCED SUNNIS TO MIGRATE TO SECULAR CITIES, AND THIS MADE THEM KILL LOTS OF PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY HATE SECULARISM AND MODERNIZATION!

>What's the solution Macron!?

>WE WILL HELP SUNNIS MIGRATE TO OUR SECULAR CITIES!

>Hoora- Wait...but won't they then killus!?

>DIVERSITY!

>YAY!
>>
>>132973118
I don't think anyone has ever put forward the argument that the drought CAUSED the civil conflict in Syria. The argument has always been that these events amplify already existing contradictions.

That's why the Pentagon for instance describes climate change as a "conflict multiplier"

Going to go out on a limb and also suggest France and the U.S.A. supplying weapons and money to Sunni Jihadist groups with the express intent of starting a civil war was also a significant factor.

>>
>>132973307

>I don't think anyone has ever put forward the argument that the drought CAUSED the civil conflict in Syria.

Oh they have, multiple times.

It's how these narratives work - A study cites an contributing factor. Politicians repeat it, with a strong emphasis on this as "a" cause. Media personalities then repeat it as "the" cause.

We have a prominent political show in Australia that most major media figures and politicians have to go on (state sponsored) to discuss policy. The "Climate Change Caused The Syrian Civil War" theory gets heavier rotation and emphasis than Gulf State funding, or any suggestion that sectarianism is the leading factor.

>The argument has always been that these events amplify already existing contradictions

Sure. But it's far down on the list. Social media is a far larger contributing factor - but I don't see Obama and Macron demanding a facebook shut down (funnily enough, we have seen Merkel ask for this though).

The point (for us) is that Macron and Merkel and friends are focusing on a largely inconsequential issue in the conflict because it focuses on an issue they wish to put front and center and which people are already interested in.
>>
>>132961412
Perfect, just perfect..
>>
>>132973704

he is very partially correct, it is known that hotter days have higher crime rates, the human body cannot tolerate heat that well and becomes violent and angry during hot times.

Heat does make it worse, but its hardly the reason.
>>
>>132973773
this
>>
>>132973773

>but this is true

Well, which is it;

Migration leads to terrorism or Migration is desirable?

Migration ican be halted by mitigating the effects of global warming, or migration is "inevitable"?

Migration leads to diversity and multi-culturalism, which is beneficial, or migration leads to diversity and multi-culturalism which causes terrorism?

He's a bundle of contradictions, this man.

This ignores the other question;

Why would global warming lead to migration/terrorism in WESTERN countries?

Allowing migrants to enter after they have overpopulated their own regions is a CHOICE, not a natural inevitability.

you're pushing against an open door with me when you say that politicians, the popular media and generally non-experts routinely misrepresent scholarly research - the "anyone" in my post was referring to the people who DO know what they're talking about and these things professionally.

It's of course wrong to frame climate change as the be-all-end-all of rifts (along the lines that there wouldn't be any problems around the world if it weren't for climate change), but I also think it's completely justified, more, it's somewhat of a moral duty to be talking about a phenomenon that can strongly amplify conflicts around the entire globe.

>If tens of millions are forced to move north to Europe

They aren't forced to move north to Europe. They can stay where they are or migrate to many of the feritle and empty spaces in Africa. They aren't forced to reproduce at unsustainable rates. We aren't forced to admit them.

>This will create a myriad of problems

No. The choice to admit these people entry will cause a myriad of problems, just as further propping up and increasing their populations despite adverse climate effects will contribute to these problems AND negative climate effects.

>Terrorist groups will use this to their advantage to recruit people who have been turned away from Europe

Classical "No My Problem".

If a person turns to terrorism because they have been denied entry to a location they have no right to expect to be allowed into, then there should be no qualms about rejecting them.

>With no prospect many will turn to terror groups

Again - The inability of Africans and Middle Easterners to behave in a civilized manner - not our problem. The fact that there solution to adverse environment conditions is to run away or engage in terrorism indicates why they should have no presence in western nations.

>Which is why counteract global warming is important

Well, no. I don't disagree with counteracting global warming - But the fact that it may facilitate in faster conflict and death in Africa is a positive to me. They have massively overpopulated that region in the last 100 years, thanks to Western intervention, and it needs to be drastically reduced so it's resources aren't squandered on non-Europeans.

Drought in Syria was caused by the kikes occupying Golan Heights that have large fresh water supplies and major river outlets that Israel now uses for themselves.

>The area provides a third of Israel's water supply.

>but I also think it's completely justified

I don't think it's justified for media personalities and political figures to emphasize a nearly meaningless contributing factor, when they also aggressively downplay the actual reasons. It's clearly only being done because they wish to encourage people to be on board with negative (for Westerners) trade deals like the Paris "Climate" Accords. Or maybe Macron & Co. really do feel like it is a central issue, in which case they are wrong and dangerous.

>it's somewhat of a moral duty to be talking about phenomenon that can strongly amplify conflicts around the entire globe

1. It doesn't strongly amplify them. It's a minor amplification.

2. We have different views on the morality of the situation - I would like to see much more aggressive conflicts in the non-western world coupled with confinement and denial of "safety valves" (i.e., western intervention protective military and humanitarian intervention and migration to western nations).
>>
>>132974289

The fact that he not only pretended that he was an "outsider" when he's so thoroughly part of the establishment, but he also apparently convinced the French people he was as well is as laughable as it is audacious.
>>
>>132973307
The premise is moronic either way because the climate is constantly changing and you can't just expect these countries to never face any hardship.

Saying a drought influenced a conflict is nothing new or revolutionary, what they really want is to shove their little guilt trip story on top of it to make this somehow our fault instead of just analyzing it for what it is.
And despite recognizing that the drought damaged livelihoods and fueled the conflict, are our politicians trying to address that? No, they want to capitalize on it to overthrow a leader they disagree with!

>Don't see

I believe many do see, and don't care. Especially those at the top of the food chain.

You can always see the example of Northern Ireland.

Back in Ye Olden Days there were probably pleb serfs asking each other;

>Man, don't people realize moving in all these protestants is gonna cause some headaches later?

>SHUT UP YOU DUMB BIGOT

>Sure, but I'm just saying...

>CROMWELL WOULDN'T DO IT IF IT WASN'T THE """""RIGHT""""" THING! COEXIST!

Obviously those higher up the food chain shoving more pliable English subjects into Ireland weren't all that concerned with the future blood soaked fallout that would result in the region. They just wanted to divide/conquer/plant some pliable populaces.

I guess other Liberals just believe in the transformative power of Civic Nationalism (although that makes me wonder about the leftists that fully endorse dismantling civic nationalism and championing actual multi-culturalism and the integration of unmoderated Sunni Islam into non Sunni lands).

It was well known (thanks Assange) that he was groomed to leave and form his own party by the Democrat party in the U.S.

No one cared. I think 99.9% of the people saying he was an outsider knew he wasn't. They just don't care. We do it too with Trump and others when we purposefully push narratives we know are false. The left does it as well.

Conservatives thinks this is ridiculous because they lack the ability to construct abstract logical relationships.

2007-2010 was the worst drought in the fertile crescent on record. That drought left 2 million displaced and impoverished, and that is certainly a relevant factor in the rise of ISIS and the Syrian War. That was the argument made in PNAS research from a couple years ago and it is completely reasonable.

yup that's pretty much it. it's still disconcerting to see that blind hatred and emotional investment in a matter of which she (and probably a lot of frogs) know NOTHING about (and by her own admission no less). democracy basically entails picking the lesser of two evils, but you should atleast be able to justify your position somewhat

No, we think it's ridiculous because it has nothing to do with western fuel habits, and the liberals pushing this narrative haven't expressed any actual interest in alleviating the suffering caused by the drought itself and would rather help intensify a war to remove a leader who certainly didn't control the weather and force his peoples' crops to fail.

>That drought left 2 million displaced and impoverished, and that is certainly a relevant factor in the rise of ISIS and the Syrian War.

Aside from their out-of-area recruits, ISIS is largely a collection of Sunnis, many of them veterans of the Saddam-era Iraq Army, who were given the boot after the Shiites took over.
Even the USG recognizes that the rise of ISIS is primarily the result of a failure to reintegrate Sunnis into Iraq public life after the Baath Party was dismantled.

And Syria is just another failed "Arab Spring" coup. Like the coup in Libya, its alleged perpetrators were affluent city-dwellers and bureaucrats, not people who suffered under the regime. And sure as shit not farmers who lost their livelihood or some nonsense like that.
>>
>>132963748
Pol can be stupid, yes.
And did you know, when the Syrian war started really kicking, was when we started seeing viral police shootings of u.s blacks and subsequent riots?
Monkeys and apes also started becoming more violent
>>
>>132974582
but it isn't negligible as the research I posted earlier shows

>The drought exacerbated existing water and agricultural insecurity and caused massive agricultural failures and livestock mortality. The most significant consequence was the migration of as many as 1.5 million people from rural farming areas to the peripheries of urban centers (3, 4).
[...]
>The conflict literature supports the idea that rapid demographic change encourages instability (25–27). Whether it was a primary or substantial factor is impossible to know, but drought can lead to devastating consequences when coupled with preexisting acute vulnerability, caused by poor policies and unsustainable land use practices in Syria’s case and perpetuated by the slow and ineffective response of the Assad regime (13)

why is it wrong to point that out?
And that's only with the current temperature anomaly of ~1°C above 1750 and one thing is certain: that this is only going to get steadily worse.

>>132974777
do you think the fact that conflicts would also exist in a non-changing climate justifies us knowingly exacerbating the problem?
I guess the when the next major drought hits and another million poor farmers lose their livelihood, they can encourage themselves by knowing that temperatures were much higher in the Eocene.

Global warming is bullshit. It was created to justify sumptuary regulation and to found "a moral equivalent to war."
>>
>>132975314
You don't need to believe that human's cause global warming to accept the fact that global warming has occurred, or, more directly, that there was a massive drought in Syria and that millions of people rapidly being displaced and hungry in an already volatile political situation creates conditions favorable to ISIS. Also, Assad's response to the situation was a part of the problem.

I remember some leftie cuck trying to argu this to me.

The argument was that drought results in food shortage, results in unrest, which might contribute to riots, which might result into rebellion, which might result into terrorism

Based on some article by vox which has been highly disputed
>>
>>132961162

But it's true? One of the main drivers of instability around the equator right now is driven by climate change -- new and severe droughts that are a result of year on year, decade one decade, increased temperatures.

It's long been known by historians that population migrations are ultimately caused by internal strife that is externalized. Famines, droughts, extreme natural disasters, all of these things lead to war.
