Germany was a more traditionally European state so establishing themselves as the dominant power in Europe would have set the world on a similar course instead of the wierd wacky slide into social liberalism that made such extreme measures as the Nazis necessary in the first place in the 1930s and still today. That's actually what happened.
The Germans invaded neutral Belgium to pass through into France via the Schlieffen plan (spelling not nessecary).
The Austrians were unwilling to go to war with Serbia, since Serbia would have brought in Russia, who would have brought in France.

Bad guys clearly were the french and the brits. They refused every german peace offer, no matter how good the terms, claiming that germany didn't do enough to "guarantee the existence of the little countries" (offering land to the poles apparently wasn't enough) yet at the same time already had plans for dividing the german colonies between them - obviously, the existence of the little african countries wasn't nearly as important.

Also, if you count the continuation wars, the poles, russians and french again proved themselves as the bad guys - they pretty much immediately broke their peace treaties to annex german territory (Ruhrgebiet, Oberschlesien) and forced germany straight back into the war. Hostilities went on into 1925 with germans purely on the defensive, something that most historians don't like to talk about - it kinda ruins that whole "evil almost-nazi germany" narative.

Each of the powers just needed a casus belli. Each of them were looking for a fight. France was still shitty over losing Alsace-Lorraine, hell they even made a word for it. The French wanted to cripple Germany. Germany wanted to be the top dog of Europe, and believed a conquest in the East would prove that. What I wouldn't give to live in a world NOT under Judeo-American political domination. But sadly the British government was kiked out (if a bit less openly so) than the American government at the time. If the Brits had been smart (or less corrupted) they would have invested ALL of their military and economic effort into shoring up the foundations of the British Empire, developing the white colonies and quashing Indian independence.

Victory on either side would've resulted in disaster. Perhaps it wouldn't have been as bad as it is today if Germany won, but it would allow for Marxism and Fascism to team up and rise up in the defeated nations (Italy, France and perhaps the UK even) the Russisn civil war would most likely end up the opposite way, transforming Russia into an unstable authoritarian regime. My consensus is that the war never should've happened. It allowed for the rise of fascism and national (((socialism))) leading to millions of deaths in Europe. Agreed. It is likely my country would have its own King today instead of a President if the war either did not happen or if the Central Powers had won. Austria-Hungary was bound to fall apart, especially when something like 70% of its industry was owned by and operated by Slavs(Czechs for the most part) and Slavs were extremely unrepresented in the Empire. Autonomy for the Slavs was inevitable.
