I think that whether God exists or not is irrelevant. The real issue here is tolerance. The Nazis had no tolerance of the Jews' beliefs (thats what I got out of high school history class anyway) and felt that since these Jews were praying to God instead of Mother Germany, it was a crime against their country, which the Nazis (the reigning governmental power at the time) believed the Jews should be punished for it. This hasn't happened in the US because God and country are specifically seperated in the constitution, unlike the middle east, where there are constant problems with terrorism and holy wars. Tolerance is what keeps us all from killing eachother because of our seperate beliefs- i.e. I don't really care that someone might think that, say, 9gag is better than reddit. That's their opinion.... I have no problem with that. That is an example of tolerance (maybe a weak one at that, but since we're all looking in this board, I thought it relevant).
Heres a definition of Tolerance:
Main Entry: tol·er·ance
Pronunciation: 'tä-l&-r&n(t)s, 'täl-r&n(t)s
Function: noun
Date: 15th century
1 : capacity to endure pain or hardship : ENDURANCE, FORTITUDE, STAMINA
2 a : sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own
Also, There is no god...you believe in him because history has told you to. My
theory on how it started is that a well repected person 10,000 years ago came
up with the idea...and people listened and followed him. Their kids did the
same...and their kids etc. until it gets to you.
