What does /pol/ think about Neo-Ottomanism?
I would actually be okay with a revived Ottoman Empire (barring any expansion into Europe) if it took the form of a semi-secular dictatorship like Gaddafi's Libya or Assad's Syria. One by one those states can be destroyed by American imperialism, but a reunited Ottoman Empire, especially if it retained Turkey's NATO membership, would be completely impossible for the US to overthrow. A stable Ottoman Empire in the middle east instead of a series of terrorist-supporting Wahhabi theocracies like Saudi Arabia and Qatar would be better for everyone. But Erdogan would probably continue the practice of funding extremist mosques in the west and blackmailing them with waves of migrants, so somebody more secular would have to be Sultan for it to work.
