Because the Nazis thought, rather autistically, that they were 100% right and that everyone else would somehow come to the conclusion that they were 100% right and not retaliate.

If you bothered to pay attention to what they claimed, their entire purpose was around the mighty taking control of the weak. That was a principle that nobody denies, not even when it is against them. The Allies won because they were more powerful. Nobody denies warcrimes because warcrimes don't exist: only necessary actions.
Basically, war is hell, mighty establish their dominion over the weak, brits/germans are justified in their actions.
